Even the most seemingly-insignificant things matter a lot when it comes to car maintenance. Paying attention to mundane details allows your car to last longer. Here are a few tips to help you avoid costly car repairs.

* Check The Air Filter
Replacing your car’s air filter is something that you must do on a regular basis.

* Inspect Car Fluids
Don't compromise your car's performance simply because you have neglected the importance of keeping the proper fluid levels in your car.

* Don't Overlook The Break Pads
Unreplaced brake pads can lead to greater problems when it comes to the integrity of your steering.

* Check Your Tires
There are several bad things that can happen when you drive on bad tires, the most common being a tire blow out that can cause you to lose control of your car while driving. Unless you want to experience a blowout you should also make sure that you check your tire pressure.

* Never Ignore The Check Engine Light
You should never ignore that check engine light. Even if your car seems to be running fine, that indicator is there for good reason. Take your car to the nearest service center for a check up.

7 Tips to help keep your vehicle in tip-top shape

Whether you’re driving a sleek new sports car, or a four-door that’s been in the family for years preventative care and mindful driving can keep your car on the road rather than in the shop.

* Stick to the Routine Maintenance Schedule
Manufacturers often recommend repairs, checkups, and fluid changes or top offs at regular intervals, such as every 15,000 miles.
In some cases, your warranty may depend on you following the routine maintenance guidelines.

* Regularly Change Your Oil
Oil cools, cleans, and lubricates the engine, helping prevent potentially damaging metal-to-metal contact. An oil and filter change is relatively cheap, but if you put it off for too long and you’ll need to replace the entire engine.

* Let the Car Warm Up
Go easy on the car when you first start driving. When it’s cold outside, it can take a few minutes for the oil to warm up and properly keep all the parts lubricated. Use the temperature gauge as a measure, when it reaches the mid-point you should be good to go.

* Go Easy on the Brakes
Making small changes to your driving habits and car maintenance regime are just as important when it comes to taking good care of your brakes. Going easy on the gas and breaks is generally a good practice, and slamming on the breaks can wear out the pads quicker than easing to a stop.

* Stop Resting your Hand on the Shifter
Unless you’re changing gears, there’s no reason to touch the shifter. By resting your hand on the shifter, you are placing an unnecessary weight on the transmission. This causes internal wear and tear.

* Park With the Parking Brake
A better procedure for your transmission is to come to a stop, push on the brake pedal, engage your parking brake, put the car into park, and then release the brake pedal. This can be especially important when parking on steep hills as there’s added pressure.

* Never Drive on an Empty Tank
Most modern fuel pumps in a car are cooled by submersion in fuel. When the pump system is not cooled, it overheats and causes wear and tear more quickly.

Did you know that tires and rims are the most often overlooked part of an everyday car wash routine?

A vehicle's tires and rims are constantly in contact with dirty, oily road surfaces. Meanwhile, the rims are constantly being splattered with a combination of contaminants and brake dust. Brake dust is made of an adhesive and carbon fibers that help glue tiny metal shavings from the rotor to the surfaces of your rims where it accumulates. If allowed to sit there over a prolonged period of the heat and friction generated by the wheels make that combination corrosive. That means it can eat into the coating (if there is a finish) and pit the metal. That's why when we detail a car we pay particular attention to your wheels and tires.
