One person has been arrested after a bank robbery in Russell Township.
On Tuesday May 27th, just after 9:30 a.m., officers with the Russell County OPP responded to a robbery in progress at a bank on Concession Street.
The male had fled before officers arrived. Witnesses were able to provide a detailed description of the robber, and the vehicle used to flee the scene.
When an officer located and stopped the stop the car a few minutes later, the driver deliberately collided with the cruiser at low speed. The driver then drove off. Officers with the Hawkesbury Detachment were able to stop the car just before 10:30 a.m. on Highway 417 and a male was arrested without further incident.
A 40-year-old man from Clarence-Rockland, has been charged with:
•Robbery with violence
•Dangerous operation
•Flight from a peace officer – two counts
•Mischief under $5000
The accused remains in custody with a bail hearing scheduled to continue on Thursday, May 29th.
