WHITEHORSE, YUKON 🇨🇦 | Sometimes the best part of the journey is the people you meet along the way. ❤️

Earlier this year, Diane and I met Dave Muir in Australia. Who would have thought that a few months later Miles for Sight would bring us all the way to his hometown of Whitehorse, Yukon?

We woke up with the support RV due for service, so we headed over to Alaska Highway Services NAPA AUTOPRO, where Dave took great care of us.

And apparently servicing the RV wasn't enough... Dave also grabbed the pressure washer and gave it a much-needed bath! 😂 After thousands of kilometres on the road, there may have been a few bugs attached to the front of it.

We shared the Miles for Sight story with the team, left a poster and took some pictures to help continue spreading the word and raising awareness for CNIB.

Then Dave became our personal Whitehorse tour guide!

He took me over to NAPA Auto Parts Whitehorse, where I met manager Sukhwinder Singh. Sukhwinder generously supplied us with some cleaner and windshield washer fluid for the RV, posed for a Miles for Sight picture and I left him some swag as a thank-you for supporting the journey.

From there we got to see some of beautiful Whitehorse, including the S.S. Klondike and some absolutely spectacular Yukon scenery.

And the day wasn't finished yet.
That evening Dave and his wife Breanna, their children Leah and Aven, along with their good friends Richie (Richard) and Wendy Law from Irving Collision, joined us for dinner.

A day that started with getting the RV serviced turned into another memorable chapter of this journey.

Dave and Breanna, thank you for your friendship, hospitality and for making Diane and me feel so welcome in Whitehorse. And thank you to Sukhwinder, the Alaska Highway Services team, Richie and Wendy and everyone else who helped make the day special.

The scenery across Canada has been incredible, but I'm quickly learning that it's the people we're meeting who make this journey unforgettable. ❤️

🏍️ Miles for Sight Stop – Cruisers CARSTAR Moose Jaw 🇨🇦

On my way to Calgary, I stopped in at Cruisers CARSTAR Moose Jaw to share the Miles for Sight – Four Corners of Canada Ride.

A big thank you to Jarred Henrikson for taking the time to learn about the ride, accepting a Miles for Sight poster, and helping spread awareness for the CNIB and the importance of vision health.

Every stop along this 20,000+ km journey is another opportunity to start a conversation, make a connection, and inspire support for Canadians living with vision loss.

Thank you for the warm welcome, Jarred. Your support is truly appreciated!

MILE 0 ➡️ WHITEHORSE, YUKON 🏍️🇨🇦

I left Mile 0 in Dawson Creek, BC, and pointed the Pan America north on one of the most iconic roads in Canada — the Alaska Highway.
And it didn't take long for the stories to start.

My first stop was Fort St. John, where I stopped at NAPA Auto Parts and met Parts Specialist Codi Hamel. Codi took the time to hear about Miles for Sight, jumped in for a picture and put our poster up to help spread the word for CNIB. 👁️❤️

Not long after, I stopped at A&W and Tyson came outside after spotting the Pan America. We started talking about the bike, which turned into a conversation about my Four Corners of Canada ride and why I'm doing it. I gave him a Miles for Sight sticker and another complete stranger became part of the journey.

The motorcycle starts the conversation, but Miles for Sight gives that conversation a purpose. ❤️

From there I continued north through Pink Mountain and some absolutely incredible country. Mountains, a black bear, a moose and kilometre after kilometre of the Alaska Highway.

I stopped at Liard River Hot Springs for a little break before continuing on.

At the Continental Divide Lodge & RV Park, what started as another fuel stop turned into another great Miles for Sight connection. I met Rick, Marion, Holly and Niki, who welcomed us and put our poster up — and of course I couldn't leave without making friends with Searra and Trigger. 🐾😂

Along the highway I also came across a crashed and abandoned Harley-Davidson. We were told the rider had spent the night in hospital and had since been released. Seeing that motorcycle sitting there was a sobering reminder of just how quickly things can change on a road like this.

Then came another milestone…
60° NORTH.

And shortly after, the sign I'd been waiting for…

THE YUKON! 🙌🇨🇦
I continued through Watson Lake and the Sign Post Forest before finally rolling into Whitehorse, Yukon.

What a day. What a road. And what an incredible country.

Another stretch behind us, more Miles for Sight connections made and another step closer to the northern corner of this Four Corners journey.

Whitehorse wasn't the destination. The NORTH was calling. 🏍️⬆️

Sometimes the best moments on the road aren’t planned. 🏍️❤️

I stopped for gas today and noticed a young woman at the next pump looking a little stressed. I filled up, went inside to pay, and when I came back out she was still there.

Then I noticed the problem — her keys were locked in the car, with her little Yorkie patiently waiting inside. 🐶🔑

Her name is Suzy, and I have to give her credit — she was resourceful! She already had a pry bar and was working on getting a small gap at the top of the door. A lady from the gas station gave us a flexible rod, and between the two of us we finally managed to hit the unlock button.

Door open. Suzy relieved. And one VERY happy little Yorkie! 😂🐶

Before heading out, I gave Suzy a Miles for Sight sticker, told her about my Four Corners of Canada journey for CNIB, and invited her to follow along.

You never know who you’re going to meet or what’s going to happen when you pull into the next gas station.

Just another memory from the road. 🇨🇦🏍️
