Some more fabrication progress in the 61 pre paint. We have so much jammed into this project it’s hard to find space for everything especially to achieve the hidden and clean aesthetic yet maintain serviceability. The battery is located in the trunk between the seat and sub box and represents a massive convergence point for all electrical systems. In addition the air suspension manifold is located here. We removed the bracing behind the seat. Designed a simple battery tray that allows easy install with the seat back removed. The airlift manifold was then boxed in to allow easy routing of the lines. This is the kind of work you don’t see and really sets cars like this apart from some of the quick and dirty installs.

Happy weekend. The e30 is finally out of mechanical and into the body shop. We’ll have some more detailed posts about what’s involved on getting this thing sitting how we want. To start we widened the front over an inch on either side to allow for closer to square setup so she doesn’t freight train on the track.

Some cool progress recently on 64 rag. We are in the home stretch but that also means almost everything left is complicated and hard 😂 modifying the upper trunk floor to clear the top mount of the wishbone when the car is laid out made the amp rack positioning tough. We welded threaded inserts to mount a removable steel rack that houses the amps and sound processor. Only issue is we had to stack the amps. 3D printed a standoff that hold the 4 channel amp above the sound processor so routing and fitment is a breeze. Then on to scanning and designing new AC ducts. Stay tuned for more product development on that front in the future.

A little slide show of the work that went into the front lower valence panel on the 61. is tightening and tucking things for that perfect fit. After tucking the bumpers the valence fit poorly and didn’t follow some of the corner and contours we wanted to hit. Stay tuned for the bumper guard mods as well as the work on the rear bumper and rear valences.

Sometimes you get lucky when you drop the frame.. sometimes you don’t. This truck unfortunately had been treated to a “restoration” at some point in its life. The work consisted of silicone, spray foam and body filler. Thankfully we’re a five minute drive from the guys over at who stocked all the panels to fix this cab before dropping it back on a new frame with some LS goodies. Stay tuned
