π HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR ICBC ROAD TEST
Preparing for your road test is not only about knowing how to operate a vehicle. Itβs about developing safe driving habits, good observation, proper decision-making, and confidence behind the wheel.
Here are some important areas every new driver should practice:
β
SHOULDER CHECKS & OBSERVATION
Always be aware of what is happening around your vehicle. Proper mirror checks and shoulder checks are essential, especially before changing lanes, turning, pulling away from the curb, or moving into another road position.
β
SPEED CONTROL
Driving too fast can be dangerous, but driving unnecessarily slow can also affect traffic. Learn to recognize speed limits and adjust your speed appropriately for road, traffic, and weather conditions.
β
INTERSECTIONS
Many driving mistakes happen at intersections. Practice proper scanning, stopping position, right and left turns, and knowing when it is safe to proceed.
β
SCHOOL & PLAYGROUND ZONES
Always identify signs early and adjust your speed accordingly. Good drivers anticipate changes before reaching the area.
β
PARKING & MANEUVERING
Practice parallel parking, reverse stall parking, and other basic maneuvers until you can perform them safely while maintaining observation around the vehicle.
π― WHY A MOCK ROAD TEST CAN HELP
A mock road test can help identify weak areas BEFORE the actual test. Finding mistakes during practice gives the student an opportunity to understand them, correct them, and build better driving habits.
At GLT Driving Academy Northshore, our goal is not simply to help students pass a road test.
Our goal is to help develop SAFE, CONFIDENT, and RESPONSIBLE drivers. π
