Unfortunately day 2 of BAJA RALLY ended with a ride over the handlebars within 10kms of the finish. I broke 4 ribs on my right side and luckily didn’t puncture a lung. I think my phone saved my heart by taking a big hit from a rock. Recovering at my sister Melanie and her husband Peter’s place in Long Beach, California. Thanks for tying my shoes and picking up my meds!

Stage one is complete at the 6 day Baja Rally. I managed an epic 4th place finish.

Made it through tech inspection and getting ready for Stage 1. First bike leaves at 5:40am!

2 week countdown to 6 day Baja Rally 2023. Getting my Malle Moto gear packed so I can do my own maintenance each night, and installed new Mousse and Michelin Desert Race tires hopefully to last me. Who needs a tire change setup when you have cool carpet on the floor!

Results are in! At Sonora I placed 17th out of 32 overall, and 6 out of 15 for the free entry to Dakar. Only the top finisher gets the free ride but it was good to see my name up there.

Finished Sonora rally 2022. Over the last 3 weeks I have ridden over 3,000kms of crazy dunes and rocky roads. Only have a small bruise on my leg and had a safe race. Thanks to my Mechanic extrodinaire Keith Cayton and High Desert Adventuresfor the support to get me to the end. There were some injuries and broken bikes but the events were amazing.
