Proper oil and filter can go a long way! Performant engines like the ones found in luxury, performance European vehicles (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, etc), need performant oil. Just because the oil is synthetic doesn't mean it's good enough. We use aprox. 11-12 types of different synthetic Liqui Moly or Motul oils that are brand certified and approved, whether it is the low ash oil used in diesel engines or the fuel economy (FE) line used in the newer BMWs. The variety and complexity of today's oils can be confusing and not using the right oil in your engine can significantly shorten its life. Oil filter's quality is also important, especially if you change your oil at 15,000km like most European brands recommend (we recommend every 10,000km). A low quality oil filter will shrink and twist, or fall apart beyond 5000km. We only use OEM filters (Mann, Hengst, Mahle, Purflux).
