Sheldon, Dianne, Craig and Mark visiting from Saskatchewan had an epic morning on the water off Nanaimo!

The crew limited out on Chinook salmon in just two hours, but decided to keep trolling—and they were rewarded with an absolute beast!

This slab put up an incredible 20–25 minute battle, screaming line off the R3EF High Speed mooching reel! What a fight! 💥

July was an incredible month on the waters around Nanaimo! With Chinook retention opening on July 15, guests enjoyed fantastic action, and many were able to limit out on beautiful Chinook salmon. Hatchery Coho have been a little more challenging to find at times, but they’ve still provided plenty of excitement.

The biggest Chinook of the month measured an impressive 88cm and was carefully released to continue its journey.

Now it’s Hawgust—one of the best months of the season! The big local Chinook are beginning to move through our area, making this an excellent time to get out on the water.

I only have a few dates remaining this month, so if you’ve been thinking about booking a trip, now’s the time!

June delivered some excellent fishing, and July is shaping up to be even better!

Starting July 15, Area 17 opens for Chinook retention, marking one of the best times of the season to get out on the water. Anglers will have the opportunity to retain Chinook, hatchery Coho, and Lingcod all at the same time.

Chinook fishing has been very productive, with strong numbers of migrating salmon passing through our area on their journey south. Coho fishing has also been consistent, although our June catch ratio was approximately 6 wild Coho for every 1 hatchery fish.

Lingcod fishing continues to be outstanding around our local reefs, providing plenty of action and quality fish. We released a 40+ LB Ling on one of our past trips!

If you’ve been thinking about booking a trip, the second half of July is the time to do it. The fishing is only getting better!

Biggest Chinook of the year goes to Jane caught August 27th off Entrance Island in Nanaimo! This incredible 39” Chinook put up an unforgettable fight.
Biggest Lingcod goes to Jaci, reeling in an absolute giant at 46” and over 30 lb!
Congrats to both anglers on landing these beauties and claiming the AWC Big Fish Title Belt for 2025!
