U-Haul rental locations provide their communities with products and services that are greatly needed in times like these. In fact, every U-Haul Store and Dealership combines to make up a vast interconnected mobility network that is the U-Haul System, providing "Essential Critical Infrastructure" to all communities including:
Mobility - Rental Trucks are the chief source of mobility/public transportation for Canadians and Americans to move where the jobs are, to improved housing, to secure an education or to remedy a health problem. Today, things still need to be moved, hauled, delivered. Truck and trailer sharing inherently have significantly lower rates of transmission/spreading compared to flying, taking a bus or train, and area societal necessity.
We store for Pharmaceutical Reps.
We store for citizens’ supplies.
We share trucks with Red Cross (U-Haul Company is an official Red Cross Disaster Responder).
We reunite students and others with their families via truck and trailer sharing.
We have helped to relocate 4.5 million students to/from their exiting universities.
There are many U-Haul Stores and Dealerships near colleges who are participating in the "30-Days Free Storage" community outreach.
Every U-Haul truck seats three across, minimizing contact.
We rent equipment to individuals who provide essential products to the public.
U-Haul is essential to support online retailers and shippers (Amazon, FedEx, UPS) who use U-Haul equipment to deliver necessities to families that otherwise cannot leave their homes.
We retail & refill Propane that is desperately needed for heating and cooking.
People still have to move and store their possessions – with most banking done online, homes that are sold and closing this week generate people moving out and in. Those transactions are still happening, and those people need to be able to vacate or take possession.
People who are temporarily out of work have need to move into a family home or other shared arrangement – often storing their own possessions for the future.
The list goes on and on. The services and products U-Haul Company offers are part of the essential services infrastructure of every community. These are basic needs and are particularly critical when people are faced with unforeseen life events. Customers are counting on U-Haul products and services remaining available.
SOCIAL DISTANCING… No Problem: We share our customers’ concerns. Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) we are encouraging every customer to complete the Online Check-in in advance of their pick-up time. This should reduce in-store interactions. U-Haul Company has developed significant mobile tools to better and more effectively serve customers – or more specifically, allow them to serve themselves. Truck Share 24/7 and Storage 24/7 make equipment and storage rooms available any day and at any time. Customer Return using their own phone is the most convenient way to return equipment. At a time when we are being told to minimize social interactions, these tools are the perfect solution and only available at U-Haul. U-Haul Team members are needed on-site to ensure that trucks (and storage rooms) are inspected, clean and made available to be rented on the 24/7 programs.
All U-Haul rental locations have intensified cleaning procedures, building on already high standards of readying equipment for customers. This includes additional steps to sanitize most commonly touched areas such as steering wheels, interior and exterior door handles, key fob, seatbelts, radio and temperature control k***s.
