It’s not just the views.

It’s how easy everything feels once you’re out there.

No bouncing between hotels.
No overplanning or second-guessing.

Just waking up, heading out, and seeing where the day takes you.

We’ve been getting a few of the same questions this season, so figured we’d answer them here 👇

Do the vans have fridges?
Yep. Both vans got proper fridges this year. Cold drinks, real food, no ice juggling.

Can you adjust check-in and check-out times?
If there’s another booking that day, we stick to set times so everything runs smoothly for everyone. We try to keep it consistent so no one’s waiting around.

Is there a safe place to leave your vehicle?
Yep, you’re good to leave it with us while you’re out on the road.

Can kids come along?
Of course. Bring the whole crew. We’ve even got car seats if you’re coming from out of town and don’t want to pack one.

Is there a km limit?
150 km per day. You can spread it out however you want across your trip.

Quick heads up before summer…

This happens every year.

People wait…
and then the good dates disappear.

We’ve only got so many vans, and summer tends to fill up faster than expected.

If it’s been on your mind, this is probably your sign to lock it in.

Grab your dates before they’re gone 🚐🌲 https://basecampadv.com/bookings

“Do I need vanlife experience?”

Short answer… nope.

We’ll walk you through everything before you head out. The van’s fully set up, the route’s dialed, and you’ll know exactly what you’re doing before you hit the road.

You don’t need to be “outdoorsy” or have done this before.

You just need to show up and be ready for a good trip.

Got 4–5 nights? Here’s a great way to run the Spirit Loop 👇

Day 1
Pick up the van in Mill Bay and head to Lake Cowichan. Ease into it with a river float, a swim, and your first night by the lake.

Day 2
Make your way to Port Renfrew. Coastal hikes like Botanical Beach, big ocean energy, and that shift where the Island starts to feel a little wilder.

Day 3–4
Take it slow along the Juan de Fuca coast. Sombrio, China Beach, French Beach. Stop when it looks good, camp where it feels right, maybe a surf or a swim along the way.

Day 4–5
Wrap it up around Sooke and Goldstream. Hike the potholes, check out a few lookouts along the Malahat, and take your time heading back.

It’s only about 300km… but it feels like you went way farther than that.

Save this for your next trip!

You don’t need to be a “vanlife person” to do this.

You don’t need experience.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.

You just need to want a better way to travel.

Something a little slower.
A little easier.
A little more “let’s just see where this goes.”

That’s kind of the whole point.

Send this to who you’d bring.

Ever had a trip that felt way bigger than the time you were actually gone?

That’s kind of the Spirit Loop.

It starts easy. Floating the river in Lake Cowichan, easing into Island time, not taking the day too seriously. Then things shift. You roll into Port Renfrew and suddenly the air changes, the weather does its own thing, and it feels like you’ve gone a lot farther than you actually have.

Then there’s that stretch of road toward Sooke. Windows down, taking it slow, ocean off to the side, and no real reason to rush through any of it.

And somewhere along the way, you end up standing on a beach like Sombrio, just listening to the waves, feeling like you’ve stepped away from everything for a minute.

That’s the part that sticks.

It’s not a big, dramatic escape. Just enough to clear your head and remind you what a good trip is supposed to feel like.

We wrote a bit more about what this route actually feels like, not just what to do along the way.

This route didn’t happen overnight…

There’s been a lot going on behind the scenes. Mapping it out, working with local communities, and building something that actually makes sense for both visitors and the places they’re exploring.

It’s not about sending more people to the same crowded spots.
It’s about spreading things out, supporting small businesses, and helping people experience the Island in a way that feels good while they’re doing it.

Support routes that support local communities 🌲🚐

We get asked this all the time…

“Where should we go?”

And honestly, most people overthink it. Too many options. Too much planning. Trying to fit everything in and not really enjoying any of it.

That’s exactly why we partnered with .

They’ve taken the guesswork out of it and built a route that actually makes sense. The right places, the right speed, and the kind of experience you’re probably hoping for in the first place.

So you can skip the overplanning and just get into it.
