Canada States Africa Line (CSAL) is a shipping company offering a direct liner service between Canada, the U.S. The company was officially inaugurated and introduced to the shipping market in March of 2008; however the service had been in operation under a different ownership since 1956. CSAL operates a fleet of four modern, geared, multipurpose, ice-class ships capable of handling a wide range of

cargoes, and ensuring safe and consistent year-round delivery. The Line employs Astrakhan Mark III type vessels, which are multipurpose tween-deckers, fitted with a stern ramp and heavy lift gear, providing versatility in handling different cargo combinations such as bulk commodities, break-bulk, ro-ro, hazmat, heavy lift and oversized cargo. Offering a monthly service on its trade route, with a number of ports en route supported on an inducement basis, the Line’s direct service formula reduces trans-Atlantic transit time to an average of 22-32 days. Direct service in combination with careful planning and reliable scheduling allows it to avoid unnecessary transshipments and re-handling of the cargo, ensuring cargo safety, timely delivery, and reduced costs. CSAL’s highly qualified team is committed to provide an efficient and personalized service to its valuable clientele on both continents through a broad area agency network.
