​If you're noticing a burning oil smell after driving, or seeing a few dark drops on your driveway, a degraded valve cover gasket is often the main culprit.

​Why replacing it matters:
🔸️The valve cover sits right at the top of your engine, sealing in the oil that keeps your valvetrain lubricated. Over time, heat cycles cause the rubber gasket underneath to turn brittle, crack, and leak.

​Leaving a leaking valve cover gasket unchecked can lead to:
🔸️​Fire Hazards: Dripping oil can land directly on your hot exhaust manifold, causing smoke and a burning odor inside the cabin.
🔸️​Low Oil Levels: A steady leak starves your engine of vital lubrication over time.

​Getting a fresh valve cover gasket installed keeps the oil where it belongs —inside your engine protecting your internal components.

🛑 MYTH BUSTER: "Can’t I just swap the brake pads and leave the old rotors?"

​I get asked this question all the time.
I get it.
It’s tempting to try and save a few bucks by slapping a fresh set of pads onto your old rotors, but as an auto tech with 20+ years of experience, here is why you should never change pads without replacing (or machining) your rotors at the same time:

​1. Uneven Wear & Friction: Your old rotors aren't smooth anymore—they have micro-grooves, heat spots, and wear ridges baked into the metal from your old pads. Putting a flat, brand-new brake pad against a grooved, uneven rotor surface means only 50% of your pad actually touches the metal. That dramatically drops your stopping power.

​2. Annoying Noise & Vibrations: Ever felt that pulsation or high-pitched squeal right after getting "new brakes"? That’s almost always caused by new pads trying to mate with an old, warped, or uneven rotor surface.

​3. Money Down the Drain: Slapping new pads on bad rotors will destroy those fresh pads in half the time, costing you double in the long run.

Remember - ​Brakes are the single most important safety system on your vehicle. Doing the job right means mating fresh pads to a perfectly smooth, fresh rotor surface every single time.
