I started out as a mobile / back yard mechanic in Vancouver.
I learned the rules of permits, buisness licences, WCB, disposal of waste and all the fun stuff the government throws at you.
As a family man, I also learned about the need for liability insurance, covering my work (warranties), and local laws about where I could actually work on customer's vehicles.
I chose to go all in. licenses regulations, WCB, government taxes, municipal rules etc.
It has been an expensive and time consuming adventure, but I did this to provide a great work space and honest repairs at a reasonable price.

If you choose to go to a mobile mechanic, please make sure they are:
1 licenced
2 insured for liability
3 following correct enviromental rules for disposal
4 have the technology to do the job correctly
5 will still be there to handle any come backs

There are some great mobile mechanics out there. I do not mean to disrespect them. I simply want everyone to be aware.

We have been curious about the influx of mobile mechanical services being offered.
Upon further inspection we have found that Mission has not prepared for expasion in this area.
Of the 900 properties that allow automotive repair, over 50 % are retail spaces, including offices and malls. 20 % are empty lots which require $1,000,000 + investment to build suitable spaces. 9.5% are existing automotive repair facilities. 15% are in Silverdale and steelhead and still require buildings and 5% are too small to support an automotive repair shop.

Due to the ever increasing search for better fuel economy, every automotive manufacturer has altered their "acceptable oil consumption limits".
This is due to lighter piston rings and lighter pistons.
The acceptable limits are:
GM cars= 5000 km/ liter of oil
Gm Trucks=1200 km/ liter of oil
Toyota vehicles= 1600-1900 km/ liter of oil
Ford vehicles = 5000km/ liter of oil
Hyundai, Kia, Honda, Audi, Bmw =1600 km/ liter of oil.

To us, this is insane.
But to the pursuit of fuel economy, this is the new norm.

To our customers: regular ( 5000 km) oil changes and a once every 2 year engine flush can keep thsi under control.

📍Little summer tip from Mission City Motors📍

Driving with a passenger's feet on the dash is dangerous and should be avoided. In a crash, or even if the airbags deploy during a sudden stop, legs or feet on the dashboard can result in severe injuries, including broken bones, dislocations, or worse. Keeping everyone's feet firmly on the floor ensures the safety features work as intended and helps prevent life-altering injuries.
