Front and rear screens β
Each should take about an hour for one person as long as the aperture has not been altered.
I think the only one we had trouble with was after a body shop decided to gob a whole lot of epoxy filler along the edge of the aperture and a mm or so was just enough to make it difficult to pop the original screens back in.
When fitting you have to remember that if the bodyshell has spent a long time without glass in place they have a tendency to sag out of shape.
If this has happened it is necessary to alternately ease it into the seal from the outside and then get in the car and push up on the roof along the section where it is tight.
This has the effect of bringing the shell and seal back inline with the glass and will help the fitting process.
The original heated rear screen on this car was broken when a tree branch fell on the car in 1984 just before it was parked until we found it in a carport in Virginia in 2019.
OE rear screens are like Rocking horse poo but the new owner really wanted a glass rear screen so we have robbed one from another vixen which will now get a lexan rear instead.
Soon the road tests will begin
