Job Description:

Taber Diesel Services is actively seeking a skilled Certified Heavy-Duty Mechanic to join our dynamic service team in Lethbridge. You will work on a diverse fleet of commercial trucks, construction equipment, and heavy machinery within our state-of-the-art, fully equipped facility.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience and extensive knowledge in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of diesel fuel injection systems. This includes expertise in inline rotary and common rail pumps, along with injectors and related components.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

•Identifying and resolving issues with fuel injection systems, including pumps, injectors, and related components for proper performance.
•Performing routine maintenance work on equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts, as well as overhauling fuel injection systems.
•Utilizing specialized testing equipment and calibrating fuel injection components to ensure they meet performance standards.
•Performing repair work by replacing damaged or worn-out parts, including injectors, pumps, and other related components.
•Maintaining accurate records of repairs, calibrations, and other relevant data.
•Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

•Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic ticket
•5+ years of experience in fleet maintenance or heavy-duty repair
•5+ years of experience in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of diesel fuel systems, including pumps, common rail, and EUI injectors
•Preference given to those with training Certification from Bosch, Delphi, Denso, and Stanadyne
•Experience in a supervisory or lead technician role
•Valid Class 1 or 2 license Alberta Driver’s license (preferred but not mandatory)
•Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software to ensure optimal engine performance by adhering to manufacture repairs
•Ability to perform tasks involving heavy lifting/carrying of items up to 80lbs
•Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
•Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
•Post-secondary school preferred
•Fluency in English (spoken and written)

We have a customer from Edmonton who showed up to work this morning to this. Last night someone came to the construction site, cut all the lines, wires and hoses and took the engine, transmission and hyd pump. JLG with a Cummins 4 cyl engine. Please share this on your pages to any friends and customers in the Edmonton area.

Sold a customer a complete fuel system for his Bobcat track machine in Feburary.
In May the customer came in with the injectors and we found they had water damage. They inspected the machine and found a cracked plastic fuel tank. Customer changed the tank, blew out the lines and installed a new rail and these injectors.
120 hours later the machine will barely run and will not rev up. Pulled the injectors which were factory new just 3 months ago.
Today we tried to test them and they would not test on our machine. Pulled the nozzle nut off and they are damaged from water again now for the 3rd time.
We were insistant with our customer to make sure the system was clean which he said it was.
We have not figured out where but there is still water in the system or water getting into the system somewhere.
The parts in these modern common rail injectors are tiny, and the fit/clearances are in the micron range. A little rust on the machined surfaces and the parts get seized and things do not work.
The nozzle (not show) has a traditional needle in the bore however it is fully stuck and we cannot get it to move.
Clean good quality fuel is the lifeblood of modern diesel engines, make sure you check you filter and your supply tanks.

TDS has the only Bosch DCI700 in Canada. The DCI 700 is the latest common rail test machine from Bosch. 4 injectors at a time with shot to shot measurement and IQA trim coding at the end.
The injectors shown on the machine are from a Deutz in a piece of mining equipment. They were having an engine issue and hoped the injectors were bad, however these injectors performed perfectly and were not the cause of their issue.
These injectors cost over $1200 each, the testing proved to the customer they were not needed.

Delphi DP200 pump came in last week for "testing" Needed a little more than testing. Pump was totally grenaded inside, cam ring, scroll plates, rollers.
We were able to get a NEW factory Delphi pump from Europe in 3 days and the customer was back to baling hay.
