General Motors (GM) et Honda ont lancé leur coentreprise révolutionnaire, Fuel Cell System Manufacturing (FCSM), investissant 85 millions de dollars dans une installation avancée du Michigan pour la production à grande échelle de piles à combustible à hydrogène.

L'installation de 70 000 pieds carrés vise à améliorer les performances, la durabilité et la rentabilité des piles à combustible à hydrogène.

Cette collaboration positionne GM et Honda comme leaders du transport durable, Honda prévoyant de mettre en œuvre le nouveau système à hydrogène dans son modèle CR-V d'ici 2024.

Le système de pile à combustible à hydrogène devrait coûter un tiers du prix de son prédécesseur, contribuant ainsi à une plus grande accessibilité des technologies durables.

General Motors (GM) and Honda have introduced their groundbreaking joint venture, Fuel Cell System Manufacturing (FCSM), investing $85 million in an advanced Michigan facility for large-scale hydrogen fuel cell production.

The 70,000-square-foot facility aims to enhance performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness of hydrogen fuel cells.

The collaboration positions GM and Honda as leaders in sustainable transportation, with Honda planning to implement the new hydrogen system in its CR-V model by 2024.

The hydrogen fuel cell system is expected to cost one-third as much as its predecessor, contributing to broader accessibility of sustainable technology.

Inside the Bristol Centaurus engine you’ll find something real special. Four solid steel 'Saloman Balls' sit two a piece inside the engine's pair of crankshaft weights. They are free to move within their housings to the point of least resistance, at any set rpm, to dynamically balance the entire engine. Put simply, this means that if any vibrations appear in the engine, the Saloman Balls move around until they naturally find the point at which the vibrations dissappear. It is down to these four pieces of metal that the Centaurus is one of the smoothest running radial engine ever built. Would be interesting to apply this to the automotive sector…

À l’intérieur du moteur Bristol Centaurus, vous trouverez quelque chose de vraiment spécial. Quatre « boules Saloman » en acier massif sont placées deux pièces à l'intérieur de la paire de masses de vilebrequin du moteur. Ils sont libres de se déplacer dans leur boîtier jusqu'au point de moindre résistance, à n'importe quel régime défini, pour équilibrer dynamiquement l'ensemble du moteur. En termes simples, cela signifie que si des vibrations apparaissent dans le moteur, les Saloman Balls se déplacent jusqu'à trouver naturellement le point où les vibrations disparaissent. C’est grâce à ces quatre pièces de métal que le Centaurus est l’un des moteurs radiaux les plus fluides jamais construits. Ce serait intéressant d’appliquer cela au secteur automobile…
