Putting the VR back into the Golf R.

The VR550T is a serialised run of 50 cars built around a German-manufactured 2.5L DDKA VR6. We took that engine, developed it for a MK7.5 Golf R platform, and built the car VW never did.

550hp. 550 lb-ft. Pump gas. With a powerband built for daily driving - immediate torque that puts you in the back of the seat.

HPA Motorsports ran its first Poker Run on August 15, 2026, co-presented with the 35th Annual Great Canadian VW Weekend. 65 cars joined for a cruise through the Fraser Valley's backroads, checking in at checkpoints along the way to collect cards and build a hand, with challenges at each stop for a shot at extras. The run ended at Krause Berry Farms, where the leaderboard locked and top hands took home prizes.

Thank you to everyone who came out and drove with us. Events like this are the reason HPA exists. 35 years in, the philosophy hasn't moved: built to be driven, not just built to be shown.

We hope this was a fun one, and we're already looking forward to planning next year's run.

HPA Motorsports Great Canadian Poker Run 2026!

Cruise along the best backroads in the Fraser Valley, hit checkpoints along the way to collect cards, and build your poker hand. This is not a race, just a good drive with good people. Complete challenges at checkpoints for a shot at extra cards. Once the last rider checks in, the leaderboard locks and top hands take home prizes from our selection.

Your final stop is Krause Berry Farms, where a fresh waffle will be waiting for you at our own private event space.

Your $20 registration includes a poker hand entry, an exclusive 2026 HPA Poker Run playing card set, a commemorative sticker, and a Krause Berry Waffle voucher.

Everything for the event runs through the Aces Poker Run App. Download it to check in at checkpoints, scan for your cards, build your hand, and track your spot on the live leaderboard.

Germany set the trends. North America followed years later. Then the New Beetle launched here first, and Marcel understood exactly what that meant.

He took out a bank loan, bought one of the first Beetles in Canada, and had the motor out that night. What the car needed was the soul of Volkswagen: the VR6. 44 GT6 Beetles later, HPA was in the business of building VR's.

Everything we build today traces back to that bet.
