Where do you STOP ?!
At a traffic light you must stay behind the line unless permitted to turn right on red. If stopped at a stop sign intersection then the below steps.

If there is a line, you make your first full and complete stop there. Then you may carefully creep forward if needed to clearly see.
If there is no line, then stop before the crosswalk/sidewalk.
If there is no line, crosswalk/sidewalk then stop before the start of the intersection.

NOTE: Before turning right on a red, always check signage for restrictions to that rule. Ontario allows right on red, not all provinces allow this.

Hill Park is a requirement for your G2 test.
See the diagram for which way your wheels need to be pointed.

Here's a question should you have your emergency brake on when doing a hill park? And what happens if you don't regularly use your emergency brake?
These are all things that get covered while we're out doing test prep.

A maneouvre that is required on your G2 road test.
This is one that you may want to practice on different types of streets, why?! Because the width of streets, and areas of town are different. How?!
With pedestrians and more traffic around and/or snow banks can make all the difference.

When we do a session, we go over the steps until you feel confident!

Spring is right around the corner and the nice weather is on the way... This just so happens to be when the busy season starts, so why not get a jump with booking in a lesson now.
Hi, my name is Brit, I have years of experience and too many tests under my belt. I am a former driver examiner, but love teaching and watching it all come together. There is always something to learn at every step, and often passing the test happens more easily when you learn the why's behind what you're being tested on.
Offering G2 and G test prep/lessons.

Wheels in a turn. Where should they be?

When waiting to make a left turn, keep your front wheels straight. With your wheels turned left, your vehicle could be pushed into oncoming traffic. When waiting to turn right, keep the wheels straight if there is a risk of being pushed into pedestrians crossing the intersection. At a large intersection with curved sidewalks where you are turning right, angle your vehicle to follow the curb so that no other vehicle can fit between you and the curb.

Note: When turning left and it is not an advanced left turn signal, you can claim the intersection. You should never enter the intersection if another car is already claimed and waiting to turn before you.

Let's talk TRAFFIC CHECKS in turns... this is what you will also hear being referred to as OBSERVATION! One of the most important things you can do!!

On the approach(Note: this is as soon as the examiner tells you to make a right or left turn) you are required to before slowing down, look all around you. Use your rearview and side mirrors to check traffic behind you. If you change lanes, remember to check your blind spot by looking over your shoulder.

Making the turn. If you are stopped, waiting for a green light or for the way to be clear, keep checking traffic all around you. Just before entering the intersection, look left, ahead and right to check that the way is clear. If there is any doubt about the right-of-way, try to make eye contact with nearby drivers or pedestrians. If it is possible for another vehicle to overtake you while you are turning, check your blind spot before starting to turn. You have not properly checked traffic if another vehicle or pedestrian has the right-of-way and must take action to avoid your vehicle.

Completing the turn. This happens when you enter the intersecting road and ends when you return to normal traffic speed.
Before you achieve normal traffic speed, check your mirrors to become aware of the traffic situation on the new road.

REMEMBER, you are checking (1)before you begin to slow down, (2)while waiting and/or during the turn, and (3)when the turn is completed.
Make it obvious, move your head!!

Did you know? drivers 70 years of age or older, who are convicted of an at fault crash are required to do a vision, written and road test. Yes, that's true!

If you or someone you know is in this position and would like a refresher prior to or after attempting the test, contact me. I would be happy to take them out.
