WABASEEMOONG THANKS BUSINESS COMMUNITY FOR SUPPORT

Wabaseemoong Independent Nation would like to send a big thank you to some businesses in Kenora.

In the last week, a group of local businesses and individuals got together, and planned a way to show their support for Wabaseemoong Independent Nation.

The group that is led by Pam Viinikka, the owner of the Cornerstone, coordinated with multiple other businesses from the downtown core.

Everyone decided to purchase and assemble 352 kits for the youth in the community, that included games, snacks, gift cards for movies and online games, water bottles, etc.

At this time the value of the cash and in-kind donations is over $20,000 dollars and continues to grow every day.

“During times like these, when you are seeing so many negative things happening on social media, and in the media, to have a group of local businesses stand together and show their support for our community means a lot, and goes a long way,” said Chief Waylon Scott. “We want to say Miigwetch, to these businesses that stepped up, and are bringing positivity to the community, and setting an example.”

The donation will be organized, and brought to the community, where it can then be distributed between the youth.

Thank you to this group (Kenora Business Community – Together strong with Wabaseemoong), and to everyone else who has reached out and shown their support for our community at this time.

As of Monday our office will be closed to non-commercial traffic. All impounds releases etc will be by appointment only. Anyone entering the yard will be assessed.

The safety of our drivers at the moment is of utmost importance as they NEED to continue providing 24/7 emergency services.

You will be asked personal questions about your travel history and symptoms by our dispatchers. We are following health and safety guidelines set out by CAA.

Our trucks will be fully stocked with essential sanitation products to protect us and our customers.

The office became a “drive thru” for these 5 week olds pups and their mom. They got topped up with moms milk and some food before heading to Dryden today in a tow truck. Lots of ooohs and awwws from the guys. - Check out Its a Dog’s Life for more info 🙂

These 4 week fluff balls are headed to Dryden. They got a lot of loving and snuggles before heading out in the trucks. Our office puppers “Theo and Phil” wanted to keep them.

When customers call us, they’re usually having a bad day. Whether it’s an accident, flat tire, a child locked in the car, car won’t start before work, or they slid into the ditch, etc.

Our dispatchers are amazing and hardworking - thank you to the family that dropped these off today for Sandy.

Thank you to Quesada for helping out people in need! We purchased 20 bracelets today from them. Each bracelet entitles the recipient to a warm meal and beverage at Quesada. Our drivers will be handing out these green bracelets. What another great initiative in our community! **anyone can go purchase these bracelets and hand them out**
