This 2023 BMW M2 was brought to us for a pre-purchase inspection. At a glance, it looks like a clean, well maintained M2 with some tasteful cosmetic mods. Once our technician got it up on the hoist, the truth was hard to miss. The front subframe had a chunk of aluminum missing, and a large fracture that was repaired with JB weld. Further inspection revealed a cracked taillight and poor alignment of the rear panels. A Google search of the VIN revealed a closed listing on an auction website for salvage vehicles. Unfortunately the auction images are no longer visible, but the trail is there. This M2 undoubtedly had a significant accident in its life and was hastily repaired and put back up for sale. A thorough pre-purchase inspection gave this customer some incredibly valuable information on the history of this vehicle, allowing them to make an informed decision, and not stumble upon these issues later on when the sale is already complete.
