To the engineer at Ford who designed the front brakes on the 2017 Transit Custom — I just want to know who hurt you.
What should have been a 30-minute pads and rotors job has now turned into an archaeological excavation involving heat, pullers, rust warfare, and emotional damage.
I asked the rotor politely to come off. It declined.
At this point the rotor and hub have been together so long they’re basically married.
This is exactly the kind of design that makes mechanics stare at the ceiling in silence halfway through a job questioning every career decision they’ve ever made.
