Even if you don't pay much notice to our posts, please mind this one. I was doing a service call for a no start for a hybrid vehicle. After successfully getting it to start the owner and I had a quick chat and he mentioned he was off back home down south. He had some lithium battery tools plugged in to their chargers so that they would be charged when he came back next weekend. No one was going to be at the cottage all week. Now , the new chargers have circuitry in them that is supposed to regulate the charging function and turn themselves off when fully charged. Notice I said " supposed". But if they don't bad things can happen . At the last electric vehicle course I took, there was a discussion about lithium batteries. Fire really emphasized using only the proper chargers for any devices and not to leave them them on charge when nobody is around. I am seeing lots of battery tools, chain saws, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, drills saws , even ride on lawn mowers in people's garages when I 'my out doing calls. Awesome technology, but still requires a bit of care and commonsense. I mentioned this to the owner and he unplugged the lawn mower battery before he left. Please share this and have a safe summer. When your boom won't zoom, it's time to call for help. This 24775 lb Genie was stuck. We did a two part line married (connected from the left hand side winch to the rhs winch line) to spread the load between the wire rope and driving the 4wd Genie as well, were able to gently ease it up onto solid ground. Lots of soft areas around still from the past days of rain and melt. Be careful where you drive. The yellow coats were old school trick, placed over wire rope lines when winching so that if a rope or connection failed, the coats draped over the wire rope help keep a recoil from flying through the air and minimalizing risk of injury or damage to the surrounding parked cars. You always get to bring home something from each call that you do. It is not just always about the payment either. Today I did a call for an Indigenous lady. I asked her a bit about what she did and her heritage. If I understood correctly, she shared about trapping from a very young age with her parents, about some of her customs, and her connection with the land and how important that it was to her. Then she said that there was a huge wolf and not just a coywolf either, in her back yard, did I want to see the pictures of it? I think that wolf meant a lot to her and being on her property. So I looked it up on my tablet when I got home tonight. It said that the wolf was revered not merely as an animal, but as a spiritual teacher, guardian and relative deeply intertwined with their culture, history, and ecological understanding.
