Sad to hear another local business is closing its doors …. Thank you for all the food and London fogs over the years

This post is incredibly hard to write.

After 10 years, countless cups of coffee, thousands of conversations, friendships made, music shared, art displayed, and memories created, we are announcing that we will be closing our doors on September 30th.

When we started back in 2016, our goals were simple: to provide good jobs for ourselves and for people in our community. We never thought we’d get rich. We planned to build a legacy.

And we did that. We are incredibly proud of it.

We weathered a global pandemic, wildfires, relentless inflation, rising costs, loss, and more challenges than we ever imagined. Through it all, we kept showing up, adapting, and finding a way forward.

As we looked toward the next chapter and tried to find a sustainable path, we sadly realized that our time here has come to an end. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity we were given to build our business here over the past 10 years. We will always appreciate the space, the memories, and the many wonderful years we have shared within these walls.

To our amazing staff, past and present - thank you for giving this place its soul. You are truly the heartbeat of The Old Grind. To the artists and musicians who shared your talents with us - thank you for filling our space with creativity, beauty, and life.

And to our incredible community - our customers, neighbours, friends, regulars, and supporters - thank you. For every coffee, conversation, laugh, purchase, kind word, and every time you chose to support a small local business.

We have decided, as a team, to spend this last month together - with you and with each other - with joy and love, not sadness. Our arms are open. Come see us, share a memory, have lunch, a treat, and celebrate with us.

If you have a gift card, please come in and use it this month. If you have a booking with us, we got you.

We will still have all your favourites available. Stay tuned!!!

We are heartbroken, but we are also so incredibly proud. We set out to build something meaningful and leave something special behind.

We did exactly that.

Exciting news for the curling club !!
Can’t wait to try a “Berg” !!

Every Wednesday for close to half a decade, I would walk from my elementary school to the fort sask curling rink.

I would sit and have a snack when I got there, and I'd stay in the lounge after Junior Curling while I waited for a ride home after my little brother's hockey would finish.

I remember watching the cooks as they smashed my fries fresh to order, or layered together clubhouse sandwiches. Those frys are the same ones I've tried to recreate at the truck for the last five years.

When I found out our food truck familia were considering moving on from their tenure at the Hinton curling club, I started taking the Berg Hinton concept out of the box after 2 years. We spent our summer season training up staff in faith that we'd be able to have a place for them, and it is with so much joy and honour that we're announcing the curling club have offered us their space.

Berg Hinton will have it's own menu, with things familiar (yes, the cauliflower bites are back, the Oklahoma Onion and Bacon deluxe and Royale with cheese too, and we'll be keeping one fryer gluten free to keep you safe just like always) and new too.

But the biggest commitment we're making isn't for anything new and different, it's for more of the same. Our same commitment to making as much as possible from scratch; our same joy driven service; and our same commitment to community involvement and support.

We'll be keeping a team of cooks attached to the Roost Program and a team to Berg, with both coming back together to serve your catering needs and the beautiful chaos of our food truck season.

A huge thank you to all of the supporters that have kept this dream growing and building. Youve helped us build something that is starting to grow beyond just our little family, and it means so much to me that you believed in us and enjoyed what we've been doing.

Finally, thank you to the Hinton Curling Club, for taking this chance on us; and to Las Tres Marias for their support and encouragement as we try to fill their shoes. We'll do our very best to live up to the legacy you've left here.

Residents voted to fill two vacancies on Hinton Town Council.

Below, the candidates are listed with the number of votes each received. The two councillor candidates who received the most votes are considered elected pending official confirmation.

The results below are unofficial and will remain so until noon on August 31, 2026.
