Last week, students and faculty from McMaster University and Mohawk College travelled to Chicago for the Battery Workforce Challenge’s Year One Competition. In addition to presenting the team’s first year developments, the team was also awarded for their hard work during year one.

The McMaster University/Mohawk College Battery Workforce Challenge team was awarded Best Team Expo and Best Cell Characterization Test Plan. Additionally, the team secured a fourth place overall standing out of 12 participating North American universities, with only a 37-point margin from the current first place team out of 900 points.

A special shoutout to Romulo Vieira (Project Manager), Mahmoud Al Akchar and Lewis Gross (Engineering Managers), Kailin Chu (Software Lead), Mahir Abdul Nasar (Vehicle and System Integration Lead), and Adam Khalid (Hardware Lead).

The team would also like to thank faculty members, Dr. Saeid Habibi, Dr. Ryan Ahmed, Dr. Phil Kollmeyer, Dr. Victor Bandur, Dr. Vera Pantelic, Dr. Moein Mehrtash, and Dr. Kimia Ghalkhani for their dedication to the team.

Lastly, the success of the team could not have been possible without McMaster University’s partnership with Mohawk College. Thank you to Dr. Mariano Arriaga, Dr. Majlinda Qarri, and Stuart Savickis for their valuable contributions.
