Mirrors aren't the only think you need to adjust before you start the engine. 🛑

Your driving posture directly impacts your comfort, control, and reaction time. If you are sitting too far back or stretching to reach the controls, you are giving up vital seconds in an emergency situation.

A safe and correct driving position relies on three main checkpoints:

• Pedal Distance: You should be able to easily reach and fully depress the pedals with a slight bend left in your knee.
• Steering Wheel Alignment: Your wrists should rest comfortably on the top of the steering wheel without your shoulders leaving the seat back.
• Line of Sight: You should have a completely clear view of the road ahead and an unobstructed angle into all of your mirrors.

Getting into the habit of adjusting your seat every single time you get behind the wheel, especially in a shared vehicle, helps keep you safe and alert.

When you're behind the wheel, you aren't the only one trying to get home safely. Road safety is a team sport, and defensive driving means actively looking out for everyone sharing the pavement with you.

Here is how to protect vulnerable road users every single time you drive:

🚲 Give cyclists space: Treat bicycles like any other vehicle and provide plenty of room when passing.

🚶 Watch for pedestrians: Scan intersections, crosswalks, and curbs before you make your move.
