Alaska by Motorcycle

Alaska by Motorcycle I have created this page to share by trip to Alaska. I leave on June 8 and have booked 8 weeks for the trip. I plan to ride north to the Arctic Ocean.

Other than that, I have nothing booked and noting planned. It will be about the journey.

Day 42 - Petawawa, ON to HOME!!!

Hit the road at 6:00 and headed for home. The horse was definitely heading for the barn. Was just putting in miles for most of the day, but when I saw the sign for New Brunswick in Riviere-du-Loup I got excited and let out a whoop in my helmet. It was great to see new sights for 6 weeks, but It was exciting to start to see familiar sites as I entered New Brunswick and got closer to home.

Today was 1,180 kms in 14:15 hrs. Hows that, Jason! 😜

Day 42- Marquette, MI to Petawawa, ON

Another day of just putting on the kilometres, 900 today. Don’t ask me anything about the ride because I was listening to an audio book “The girl who takes an eye for an eye”, and I don’t even know how I got here.

Day 41 - Grand Forks, ND to Marquette, MI

I had planned to do a record day today and ride to Sault St. Marie because the cyber bully Jason Lejeune had called me a wuss the other day. I pulled off the road in failure at 8:30, 3 hours short.

Thunderstorm in the morning, but tapered to showers in the afternoon. I did leave quite a puddle behind in the coffee shop I stopped at near noon.

Me today. Just rode 3 hrs in a thunder storm. Between the fogged up visor and my lost glasses, I’m not seeing much.

Day 40 - Glasgow, MT to Grand Forks, ND

Just a travel day today, putting in some miles. Lost ½ hour to construction, 1 ½ hours to getting my rear brake fixed, and 1 hour to time zone.

So flat! But I just loved riding through this area. It was constantly changing, but always pretty flat.

Day 39 - Hungry Horse, MT to Glasgow, MT

People have asked me what was the most beautiful part of my trip. Before I have answered the vast plains between the mountains on the Dempster Highway, the tundra on the Dalton, or the Icefields Parkway. Now I will answer the Going-to-the-sun Road in Glacier National Park. It was so beautiful that it was overwhelming. I hope to go back there someday for a week to camp and hike all through it.

After I completed it I stopped for gas. I left my glasses on my bike when I rode away. I spent an hour looking for them and filled out a lost and found form, but no luck. Just don’t ask me what anything after that point looks like.

I was debating going to a few more places I had heard about, including Yellowstone Park. I have enjoyed every minute of my trip, and have not felt homesick, but as soon as I pointed my bike to the east in Whitefish a switch flipped. The horse is heading for the barn!

Day 38 - Banff to Hungry Horse, Montana

Went to replace my brake pads this morning and they were fine. I must have gotten some air on the lines. Will need to find a shop on Monday to bleed them. Not using brakes much these days anyways. 😀

Rode as far as Hungry Horse, Montana. Tomorrow I will go to Glacier National Park and ride the Going-to-the-sun Road, a bucket list ride for motorcyclists. After that, I’m not sure. I have been getting lots of tips on other roads to ride at every stop I make.

Had supper tonight with Sarah Versloot and her friends Caitlin and Nicole. Loved it!
