Enduro Summary - Corey brings home a 3rd place trophy, Katie’s car did not finish
200 laps of pure chaos, the Enduro Clash this past Sunday was a wild ride from start to finish. A record of 25 cars started the race, however not that many finished. Carnage, spins, and roll overs kept the fans and pit crews on their toes.
Before the race, Corey fully expected this to be the Saturn’s last race since it’s in pretty rough shape body-wise. However, the Ion decided it wasn’t ready to die yet and survived 200 laps of spinning out people and passing cars all day. With only 3 tire changes, Corey’s car mixed with his skilled driving kept him on the leader board for the most of the race and he was able to take home that 3rd place trophy! 🏆
Katie was able to complete a little over half of the race, even was on the leader board for a few laps, but her car ended up deciding that it was not meant to finish the race. Aside from a bent strut that kept slicing through tires, the O2 sensor on the car kept being an issue and she had no throttle for about half the time she was out there. Because of this, she wasn’t able to drive the car its full speed and got spun out over half a dozen times because she couldn’t pull away from the other cars. After being spun out in the last 50, the car wouldn’t start again and we couldn’t figure out why. After hooking up batteries and booster packs, plus smashing on the starter to try and get it to crank, we realized while loading the car on the trailer that there was a rock stuck in the serpentine belt 🤨🤪 that’s racing!
All in all, the Barton Racing Team was still able to bring home some hardware for the trophy shelf, and we had an absolute blast. Of course, none of this would have been possible without our amazing pit crew, even being short-staffed, they absolutely crushed it all day. 🤘
Keeping the cars alive and allowing us to keep attending races and putting gas in both cars is because of our top-notch sponsors! If you get a chance, please choose to support these local businesses who have no problem giving back to their communities!
