🤍July 25 changed Elk Island Retreat🤍
In a matter of minutes, a powerful weather event moved through our property and left a very different landscape behind.
Trees that had stood for generations came down. Forest canopy was opened. Spaces we’ve known and loved for years were changed in ways we never could have imagined.
And yet, in the middle of all of it, we are incredibly grateful to God that no one was hurt.
The days since have been filled with chainsaws, cleanup, long hours, hard conversations, and a whole lot of emotion. Our EIR family has worked tirelessly to make the property safe and welcome again, and we are so grateful to say that Elk Island Retreat is open. 🌲
But rebuilding will take time.
This forest is at the heart of what makes EIR special. It’s where people come to breathe deeper, reconnect, celebrate, get married, watch the stars, gather around a fire, and simply slow down.
We don’t know exactly what this next chapter will look like yet. But we do know that we want to care for this land, restore what we can, plant new growth, and continue building a place where people can come and find a little peace.
So, we’re asking our EIR community to help us rebuild. 🤍
If Elk Island Retreat has ever meant something to you, if you’ve stayed here, celebrated here, gotten married here, gathered around our fire, watched the stars, or simply followed along with us…we’d be incredibly grateful if you would consider supporting our GoFundMe (started by our dear friend Boe from Mercado Growth Partners)
Every contribution, share, kind message, and bit of encouragement means more than you know.
The forest may look different.
The road ahead may look different.
But the heart of EIR is still here.
And we’re going to grow from here….🌱
