Custom Home Progress Update
Things are moving right along on this custom home build! Framing is complete, the roof is on, and rough-ins for plumbing, HVAC, and electrical are well underway. Windows and doors are in, giving this project its first real sense of space and character.
The design is starting to take shape just as envisioned—clean lines, thoughtful layout, and craftsmanship that shows in every detail. We’re excited to move into insulation and drywall next, where the interior really begins to come to life.

Big changes are coming to the BC Building Code! 🚧🔨

Starting March 5, 2025, new bracing rules for wood frame homes under Part 9 will kick in. The updates to Section 9.23 are a big shift, especially in Subsection 9.23.13, which deals with bracing for wind and earthquakes. 🌪️🌎

With higher seismic risks, the old methods needed a refresh, so now there are new ways to meet the code while keeping modern home designs in mind. These changes apply across BC—even in low seismic and wind areas!
