Inner City Diesel was proud to be named the Indigenous Owned Business of the Year at the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce Business Awards on October 22.

This award recognizes Indigenous-owned businesses that are creating opportunities, supporting their communities and carrying Indigenous values into the way they do business. For us, that means a lot.

We've been through the ups, downs and zig zags of growing a business since 2008. During that time we’ve worked hard to build our expertise, create meaningful partnerships, and ensure that our success creates opportunities for others.

We’re proud of where we come from. We’re proud of the people who make ICD what it is. And we’re proud to be Indigenous-owned. This award reflects more than the company itself; it reflects the people and relationships that have shaped ICD over the past 18 years.

We'd like to express a big congratulations to Spirit Creative on sharing the honour with us, and to all of the incredible Indigenous businesses nominated in this category. Being recognized alongside such a strong group of Indigenous businesses makes this honour even more meaningful.

Thank you to the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce for recognizing the impact Indigenous businesses are making in our region.

A pump doesn't just show up on site and start working. Before equipment leaves our yard, our crew is already putting in the work.

🔧 Inspecting equipment
⚙️ Checking components
💧 Preparing hoses and connections
🛠️ Completing maintenance and repairs

When equipment supports a mining or construction operation, downtime can affect the entire job. Our crews understand what's at stake, and they put their hands-on experience to work before equipment ever reaches the field. A project that runs smoothly starts long before the equipment hits the ground.

There's no such thing as a typical day when you're working in mining, construction and field services.

One day, you're getting pumps and equipment ready at the yard. The next, you're out on site troubleshooting a pump, setting up hoses for fluid management, repairing dredge equipment, or figuring out the right approach for a high-priority maintenance job.

At Inner City Diesel, the work goes beyond moving equipment from point A to point B. It's about understanding each project, getting hands-on, adapting to changing conditions, and working together to find solutions.

From the shop to the field, our team brings the skills, equipment and practical know-how to tackle the work in front of them. Inner City Diesel is proud of our teams and the work they do. Learn more about us https://loom.ly/IVguLzc

We can only reconcile what we will acknowledge. As an Indigenous-owned company, Inner City Diesel stands in support of Orange Shirt Day and the Indigenous communities who continue to carry the impacts of residential schools.

National Day for Truth & Reconciliation is a day to remember the Indigenous children who were taken from their families, communities and cultures. To honour the Survivors who have carried these experiences and, often, the responsibility of telling Canada what happened.

Truth and Reconciliation asks us to face a history that is painful and difficult. It asks us to acknowledge what happened in residential schools and the generations that continue to carry the effects.

Please remember that reconciliation doesn’t end when the orange shirts come off. We all have an ongoing responsibility to learn, create change and build a better future.

Being an Indigenous-owned company is a big part of who we are at Inner City Diesel, but it's more than just building a business.

It means creating opportunities., forging strong relationships, and helping people develop skills and careers. And working with partners to create economic opportunities in the communities where we live and work.

It also means building a company where Indigenous people can see themselves, from the yard to the jobsite, and from entry-level opportunities to senior leadership.

We’re proud of where we come from, proud of what we’re building, and especially proud of the people who are helping us get there.

The conditions aren't always easy. Our customers work in environments where mud, water, dust, changing weather and long hours are simply part of the job.

Mining and construction don't stop because conditions aren't perfect. That's why equipment needs to be ready for the realities of the site.

At Inner City Diesel, we provide pumps, dewatering equipment, fluid management solutions and jobsite support built around the challenges our customers actually face.

We don't just understand the equipment, we understand the work. From Fort McMurray to Hinton, Smithers and Sparwood, our teams are ready to put their experience to work. Learn more at https://icdgroupltd.com/

Summer may be winding down, but across Western Canada the work keeps moving ahead.

From Fort McMurray to Hinton, Smithers and Sparwood, our crews continue hard at work across Western Canada to keep pumping operations running, manage water and fluids, and provide the field support customers need to keep projects going strong.

Mining. Construction. Industrial operations. No two job sites are exactly the same, but one thing stays consistent: the job needs to get done. Inner City Diesel is proud of the people who show up early, put in the hours and get the job done right.

September is here and so are we; and we're not slowing down now. Let's go, team!
