👇FOOD SECURITY PROGRAM STARTS NEXT THURSDAY, OCT. 22ND

Food insecurity is a fact in the lives of people all over the world.

Fogo Island Food Security Program, in partnership with Brimstone Head Lions Club, Fogo Island Pride, and a Reaching Home NL grant will start our winter food box program on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22nd at the Lion’s Club building in Fogo, pick up time is from 4:00 to 5:30.

🫀🫀Please note that our door will only open at 4pm.

This program helped many people last year and is open to any resident of Fogo Island having difficulty buying food due to financial hardship and is First Come, First Serve. If you need a little help please come and get a box. We value your privacy and all names are kept confidential. Please phone for more information if you could use our help. This program is here to help!

Being a 'first come, first serve' program, people will only be able to pick up one box per household. If you are unable to get out and absolutely require someone to pick up your box, you must call Dawn at 235-1948 by 2:00 Thursday, Oct. 22nd and leave a message regarding who will collect for you.

This winter, the Town applied for funding through the Reaching Home Rural and Remote NL Funding Program. This program helps people who are experiencing homelessness or who may be at risk of losing their housing. We’re pleased to share that our application was successful. The Town has received $52,500 to support the work of the Fogo Island Food Security Program and to help them provide more services to people in our community.

More funding will be available soon to help individuals and families with basic needs. This may include:
1. Food and hygiene supplies
2. Help with housing and utility costs
3. Warm clothing and other winter essentials
4. Support and connections to other services, such as budgeting help

If you’re having a hard time or need some extra support, please reach out. We’re here to listen and help you find the support that works for you.
