This BEAUTIFUL BMW Z4 M came into our shop with an issue that only showed up once the car reached operating temperature.
After diagnosing the problem, we found that the throttle valve was malfunctioning once it warmed up. We ordered a replacement straight from Germany, waited three weeks for it to arrive, and then discovered it was wired incorrectly. Thinking it was a one-off issue, we ordered another one... only to find that it had the exact same problem!
The throttle was operating in reverse, closing when it should have been opening and triggering throttle valve jam faults. After some further investigation, we suspect there may have been a batch of incorrectly wired units.
Rather than let this one drag on any longer, we corrected the wiring, verified proper throttle operation, and got this Z4 M running as it should.
Just in time, too — this one is ready to go into storage for the winter! ❄️🏁
