We had a customer come in suspecting they had dropped a valve in this truck. We looked in the suspected cylinder with the borescope and found the piston very beat up and were concerned about the cylinder walls being damaged as well. Our tec removed the engine a tore it down and found that this engine block could still be used but the head had taken to much damage and needed to be replaced.

This past week we had Ian doing a cam phaser and timing job for a customer. With the ford trucks it is important to be strict on getting our oil changed every 8000km. If you go over the recommended service interval your oil can become contaminated and sludgy witch can clog the VGT solenoids and the microscopic oil passages. This severely limits the volume and pressure of the oil reaching the phaser causing premature wear. When the engine is turned off, oil drains away from the phasers. On startup, if the internal locking/keeper pin is worn, the phaser cannot lock into a default position. This causes the internal components to violently slap together, creating a distinct "diesel-like" rattle until oil pressure rebuilds.

We had this truck come in to see us due to engine noise. We found lifter issues and some of the valve seats had dropped out of the engine head.
In the end we were able to have Jeremy do a rebuild on the head and Trevor performed the rest of the engine repair!
Since 2019 the dodge ram pick ups with a Cummins engine, came with hydraulic lifters from factory. Now that no manufactures seem to be able to build a hydraulic lifter in todays world, we are having a lot of issues with these. For these particular trucks we can get solid tappets kits from Hamilton Cams to convert it to how these engines were historically built with out issues.

This week we have our guys doing a bit of machining. Brett is doing some front end work and brakes front and back, he was able to machine one set of this customers rotors. We also have Jeremy cutting new valve seats into this head as well as freshening up the valves themselves.

We have some awesome guys at work in the shop today! We have Adam fixing some shocks in an old jeep. Brett's going hard at some front end work for another customer. Ian is putting an aftermarket turbo and a few other parts in this beautiful old dodge! Last but certainly not least we have Trevor installing a power steering pump and doing a general check over on a wonderful customers truck.
