It’s October, which means it’s officially time to start thinking about winter tires. 🍂➡️❄️

That doesn’t necessarily mean you need to install them today. It means you don’t want to discover there’s a problem with them the morning the forecast calls for snow.

Before winter arrives, check:
🛞 Tread depth — Do you actually have enough tread left for another winter?
🔎 Cracks or damage — Look for cracking, bulges, punctures or other visible damage.
📅 Tire age — Lots of tread doesn’t always mean lots of life. Check the date code, especially if they’ve been sitting for several seasons.
💨 Air pressure — Tires can lose pressure while they’re stored, and temperatures dropping can lower it further.
📦 Your full set — Make sure all four tires are actually there, in usable condition and ready to go.

And if you need new winter tires? October is a much nicer time to figure that out than the day before the first snowfall. 😂

Another day, another car that needs CPR. 🚑💀

Around here, CPR = Calipers, Pads & Rotors, and when a brake job reaches the point where all three need attention, we call it a full resuscitation. 😂🔧

The good news? Your brakes don’t have to get to the CPR stage.

Pay attention to the early warning signs:

🔊 Squeaking, squealing or grinding
🛞 Vibration or pulsating while braking
🦶 Changes in how the brake pedal feels
🚨 Brake warning lights
👀 And most importantly, don’t put off regular inspections

Catching worn brake components earlier can sometimes mean addressing the issue before additional parts are damaged or worn beyond their service limits.

So if your brakes have started making their own soundtrack, don’t wait until they need CPR. 😂

Here’s the thing: using ChatGPT to learn about your car or understand what might be causing a problem can be helpful.

But it can’t physically inspect your vehicle.

It doesn’t know exactly how you’ve been driving it, what it sounds like in person, what maintenance has or hasn’t been done, what the fluids look like, or what else we might find once it’s on the hoist.

And even if you come in convinced you already know what’s wrong, we’re still going to check.

A proper diagnosis means looking at the whole vehicle, not just replacing the first part that sounds like it fits the symptoms.

And sometimes… the car tells a very different story. 😂

Send this to someone who diagnoses their car online before bringing it to the shop. 👀

Different generations. Same reason we all showed up. ❤️

From a C8 Corvette and Nissan Z to a ’69 Mustang Fastback and ’66 Shelby GT350, Sunday’s final Cars & Coffee gave us a little bit of everything.

But looking back on this season, the cars aren’t really what we’ll remember most.

It’s the people who brought them.

The conversations over open hoods. The stories behind the builds. The familiar faces who kept coming back. And the people who showed up just because they love cars as much as we do.

We’re incredibly grateful that ShortStop gets to be part of a community with so many passionate car enthusiasts.

To everyone who brought a car, grabbed a coffee, stopped to admire someone else’s ride, shared our events or came out throughout the season—thank you. ❤️
