It's Red Bag Days 2026. If you're new here, this is our 8th year for this community initiative. Eight years of red bags. Eight years of filling our food banks. Eight years of bringing this village together for the most wonderful of reasons.
Life is expensive - we get it. It's even harder for some more than others.
A job loss.
An illness.
A separation.
An unexpected bill.
A rent increase.
Or simply the rising cost of living becoming more than a family can manage.
There are so many reasons people may need our help - and not a single one of them is any of our business. NO ONE should have to justify needing help to feed themselves or their family. Nor should anyone every go hungry in a village filled with such generous hearts.
This isn't a space for judgement.
This is a space for helping - and we encourage you to help us feed this village.
Each Red Bag filled qualifies you for an entry to win a pizza party (or winners' choice). There is a party up for grabs for individuals/families and one for groups/businesses. So, technically, you can double your odds by filling a bag yourself and contributing at work!
Bags are available in Corner Brook from our Speedy Glass team. In Deer Lake, the fabulous folks at West Coast Diesel have them available for filling, as does Genny Andrews. In Howley, bags are available at the town office from Paulette Kelly or myself😁.
It doesn't take a lot to fill a bag. It doesn't have to cost a fortune. Watch your flyers...check the dollar stores...sometimes great deals are out there just begging to be found!😉
We will be out and about this afternoon fulfilling our current list - PLEASE REACH OUT if you wish to have a bag dropped off to fill!!
