Tuesday, Oct 13, 2026 We are replacing our 2 touchless washes with 2 completely new systems. This will require closing down 1 or possibly both bay for the removal & replacement of the equipment. We are not sure what time line this could be. Hopefully within a week for both. We appreciate your patience while the work is going on & hope you will enjoy the new equipment when we are open again. Work will start on Tuesday, Oct 13, 2026.

(June 22, 2026) We got the repair done & bay 7 is open again. So both automatic touchless bays are open and working.

(June 17, 2026) Unfortunately we have had to shut down one of our touchless automatic wash bays (bay 7) for repairs. We are not sure of a timeline to have it open again. Our other touchless automatic wash bay is still open and unaffected. Sorry for the inconvenience. We will post here when bay 7 is running again.

(May 26, 2026) The car wash is currently closed because of an emergency warning released this morning. We will reopen when we can.

Residents in Courtenay, Comox and the K’ómoks First Nation are being asked to not flush or use any water that drains into the sewage system while work is underway to repair a sewage leak.

Kris La Rose, general manager of engineering services with the Comox Valley Regional District, says there was construction underway at the Comox pump station, when there was an “uncontrolled release of wastewater.”

“It unexpectedly failed. So, there’s a, there’s a major upgrade going on at that facility. So, as part of that work, they are there’s a requirement for temporary bypass pumping,” La Rose said in a phone call with CHEK News.

“The bypass pumping had not yet begun, but the new piping network that was installed to allow the bypass pumping to happen over the coming days, a component of that failed, and the excavation around that section immediately filled up with wastewater, and then overflowed into the ocean.”

While repairs are underway, the public is asked to not flush toilets, use water that drains into the sewage system, shower or have baths, use dishwashers or washing machines or harvest shellfish or marine resources from the affected area.

The public is also advised to avoid going into the ocean, swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, or other water activities near the shoreline and around Goose Spit and Comox Marina.

La Rose says they hope to have the issue fixed by 2 p.m., but the regional district will provide an update at that time either way.

“This is almost a worst-case scenario for the sewer system,” he said.

“We work very hard to ensure that all of the wastewater collected gets treated properly before discharge, so to see it flowing into the marine environment like this, and particularly immediately adjacent to the public amenity, like the Marina Park and the Marina, is pretty devastating, but we’re working very hard to resolve as quickly as we can.”

(May 13, 2026) We have some paving going on this morning. It’s to cover all of the work that went on last week to replace our water line to the self serve coin bays. They are mostly working in front of bays 4 & 5. Bays 1, 2 & 3 shouldn’t be affected, but may have people waiting in line. There may be limited access to the change machine. Bay 7 will have a period where it won’t be accessible as we are also fixing the bump/divot in that lane too. This should all be finished before noon.

(Friday May 8, 2026) The trough we had to dig to install a new water pipe has been filled in. There is now access to all 5 self serve coin car wash bays. Please watch for the sand & dirt around the vending machine area. That should be cleaned up on Monday.

05/06/2026

(Wednesday May 6, 2026) Water line test went well. We are able to open only 3 of our self serve coin wash bays, 1, 2 & 3 at this time. Bays 4 & 5 are not accessible from the entrance side, nor from the exit side (like some customers tried to do while work was going on). The pumps are NOT turned on for Bays 4 & 5. There is a 28 inch wide 2 foot deep trench in front of Bays 4 & 5. Do not walk on the pallets covering the trench. Please watch for the edge of the plywood covering the pit by the change machine. Access to our vending machine is limited, please do not walk on the dirt or rocks around the vending area.

05/04/2026

(Monday May 4, 2026) We won’t be able to open our self serve coin bays tomorrow. More work excavating work than thought. We can probably have Bays 1, 2 & 3 open Wednesday afternoon.

05/04/2026

(Monday May 4, 2026) Our self serve coin wash bays are still closed because of a water leak underground. We are working at putting a new line today in a different location. We hope to have at least bays 1, 2, & 3 open by noon tomorrow. Our 2 touchless automatic bays are still open while this is all going on.
