2026 - Free RV Maintenance Tips by RV Connection ( Keep Camping)

Need RV Storage?
“As of last year we now offer RV Storage” Hooray 🏕️

Need Mobile RV Repair?

Call us: 403-807-9693
Claresholm, Alberta.

Hello everyone, welcome to another great year the 2026 camping season is about to begin🏕️, below are a few free maintenance tips hopefully this will help a few of you out.

Take these free maintenance suggestions as you wish, cheers ✌️

-Check the caulking on all your corners every time you go camping. It takes only 10 min and can save you from devastating damage. Cleanly remove any loose caulking if you can before adding new RV sealant.

-If you don’t like mice don’t leave ANY food. Dog food, noodles, marshmallow or open popcorn, always use sealed containers.
Mothballs are a good rodent deterrent.

-Black tanks don’t hate toilet paper they hate a lack of water. 2-4 liters (or a gallon+\- if you’re in the states) of water per boom boom is gonna fill your tank faster I know but it’s going to save you a headache when emptying down the road.

-Only open your propane tank about a half turn. God forbid there’s ever an accident but you’ll save yourself time shutting things off. I know a lot of folks will disagree with me on this one but I was told this by all my propane school’s I went to that a fully opened tank isn’t necessary and this won’t cause the valve/tank any harm.

-Store your unit with your jack down low or up high to give a good angle for water run off while your unit is in storage

-Check your roof every 1-3 mths and look for soft spots or liner rips. If you find any tend to them immediately! Use Dicor lap seal for repairs. If your not sure call us to inspect or do the repairs, it’s better to have it done the correct way to make the repairs. It will definitely save you from costly repairs later on.
Bring it in for a free roof inspection or to book a reseal. (Mobile callouts not included)

-Don’t put well water in your fresh tank as it is not treated and will go stagnant. This will definately make your water heater and fresh tank smell like sulfur.

-Always check your hook ups & lights & then double check to make sure you’ve loaded your trailer and lights are functioning properly before travelling.

-Every air conditioner is a dehumidifier…

-Always do your due diligence when buying a trailer, make them show you everything works and check the roof for water damage. If you don’t know how then make an appointment for a mobile RV tech inspection. Better to always know what your getting into before a purchase and not after. Nothing wrong with buying a damaged unit IF you know how to do repairs or have the money to make the repairs but if you’re looking to simply have a hassle free time it’s better to tend to these issues with a proper inspection prior to buying rather than having a giant inconvenience and unexpected costs to deal with down the road.

-Open your emergency windows frequently.. the sun on the seal can almost glue these shut when left unopened for long periods of time and in the event of an emergency you or your little ones might not be able to open it unless frequently opened prior. This being said, show your little ones how they work and how to open them and teach them why they’re there.

-if your water pump kicks in once and a while out of nowhere that’s a good sign you may have a small leak in your system.

-anode rods don’t need to be replaced almost yearly, when they’ve deteriorated to almost a coat hanger size or pencil it’s time to replace them.

-always stow your awning away even if you’re going away for only a few hours. Wind and rain can sneak up at anytime and cost you an awning or a bent arm and a costly replacement.
Our weather here changes by the minute!

-Don’t use jack stands or stabilizers under your slide outs. All slide outs are designed to hold their own weight plus a few occupants. Jack stands break seals and can cause damage to motors and slide mechanisms.

Last but not least call us if you need anything and book your appointment.

Let’s enjoy the 2026 camping season!

“KEEP CAMPING”

Sincerely, your Mobile RV Tech ✌️
