Weekend Recap…..
Round 5 was pretty wild, got to the track Thursday afternoon and was very excited to learn the new Volocity layout. Friday morning I went out on a base setting which seemed to be working well but I felt the gearing was just slightly too short, didn’t have the sprocket I thought would be ideal so I tried a different one and the bike was just too sluggish, so I decided to go back to the original setup for Saturday. Saturdays qualifying races were tough, I struggled in legends after a bad start and getting stuck behind a slower rider for too long and had to settle for 12, I was not happy with that result considering I knew I had pace to be higher up the field. Amateur Superbike race went better, everyone was on their game and flying and I finished P5, second row start for sundays final. Sunday morning I woke up to the cruelty oh Grandbend, it was cold and raining, just my luck, swapped the rain tires on but did not go out in practice because I didn’t want to risk going down and not making the races this afternoon, over the lunch break the rain got heavier and I decided to skip the legends race all together to make sure I could be out there for superbike and collect as many points as possible. A few of the other riders opted to not go out for the superbike race as they weren’t in the hunt for the championship and saw no point in taking the risk, those of us that went out tried our best and in the end I was able to secure 2nd place! That now puts me solidly in 3rd for the championship and with the last round being a double header anything can happen! So I guess it was a good weekend but man do I hate riding in the rain lol
I just want to thank my sponsors BOBS Motorsport and Vesrah for supporting my program this year. To have this kind of support from a local shop that has been in my community for as long as I can remember is just amazing and all the staff are so nice and welcoming, if your in the chatham area stop in and check them out!!
Some honourable mentions to a few trackside vendors are needed as well, ASAP Motorsport for the tires and suspension work, definitely a great crew over there, and for the kind words and coaching that has helped me progress so much in my riding this year, thank you both so much!
So far this season has been going great so in a few weeks time let’s try to end it on a high with some more great results!!
