Bracket Finals reconciliation - I was asked about travel money for this years event. As mentioned I needed to see where we stood before I could determine if we could do it. - bottom line is we can't. In previous years we saw racer attendance numbers in the mid 30's for the most part this year we had close to 70 entries. So that increases/doubles the cost of everything - entry fees which we pay, the shirts which come out of the fund ( net cost on those after deducting the purchased ones was approx $1900. The dinner used to be pizza/wings at a cost of $1500 max but there was nothing close to Milan in this regard so we went with a catered meal and with the size of our group (175) that worked out to be 4K US - the fund had always paid this portion previously but we (the track) picked up 1/2 the fund the other half ( $2800 Cdn each) so as the tracks we covered approx $9800 Cdn ( entry fees and 1/2 of the meal). The fund covered $4700 Cdn ( shirts & 1/2 the meal) If we did even $50 in travel money that would have been another $3500 (70x50) - adding that to the total would make it more than the fund raised all year. We have always used a portion of the fund towards the bracket finals but not all of it because the pot is built by all the people who support it over the season not just the bracket finals.

With that in mind I believe we need to come up with a plan/program on how the money from the fund is used going forward. I still think a portion should be used towards those representing the track at bracket finals. We also need to come up with ideas etc how to use the balance of that money - racer party on a Sat night - (tent band b**r kegs etc), specialty prizes/awards, payout enhancements, etc. Since we have not used 100% of the funds each year we have a balance going into next year.

MORE THAN JUST RACING. 🏁🏍️
It’s the people you meet.
The friends you make.
The memories you take home.
At Grand Bend Motorplex, racing has always been about more than what happens on the track. It’s the passion, the personalities, the machines, and the community that keeps bringing people back.
Because sometimes, the best memories happen between the races.

One tree. Thousands of memories.🏁

For generations of drag racers, the Tree has been one of the most recognizable sights in the sport.
It’s the moment of anticipation.
The quiet before the launch.
The signal that it’s time to go.
And at Grand Bend Motorplex, this iconic piece of the track has been part of countless races, victories, close calls, and unforgettable days at the strip.
Somewhere between the lights and the finish line, memories are made.

CLASSIC LOOK. SERIOUS POWER. 🏁
There’s just something about an old-school race car that never gets old.
Classic lines, a purpose-built setup, and the kind of power that reminds you why we love going racing in the first place.
At Grand Bend Motorplex, the machines may change, but the passion for horsepower never does.
See it. Hear it. Feel it.

Well the 660 Nationals wrapped up the 2026 drag season at Grand Bend Motorplex. There was alot of great/tight racing this past weekend but I was somewhat surprised that the car count wasn't higher based on the entry fees and the related payouts - ( I get the Junior aspect as another series with Juniors was also running this wkd). Vicki & Drew put alot of time/effort into this event getting sponsors and offering one of the best payout events in the province. I know the shootout races are big entry for big payouts, but the Sat & Sun regular program for No Box is $200 entry for both days (Sat and Sunday) racing for $2500 to win and down to $50 in the 1/8th ( $4550 total) in Box $400 for both days racing for $5000 to win down to $100 in the 1/8th ( $9100 total) based on 40 entry minimums but that doesn't even cover the purse. Its a 100%+ payout
So just curious if you didn't attend this race wkd why not ? Can't be weather as the forecast other than Friday early was for sunshine all wkd.. As a track operator and I am sure Vicki/Drew as event promoters would appreciate the information. This info is a win/win for everyone because if we can incorporate things into our events that benefits competitors and we see more competitors because of it everybody benefits. ( NOTE this is not an opportunity to bash anyone - posts of that nature will be removed)
