Tip for today....

Your tires come with alot of information on them. A whole lot of numbers and letters scattered all around the sidewall of every tire that can be very confusing and easily ignored. knowing how to read and decode the information on each tire can be vital to safety and performance of your vehicle.

For example, every tire comes with a date stamped on them to tell you the age of your tire.

The DOT (Department of Transportation) make the tire manufacturers do this in order to determine their age....tires get old.
In fact, between 5 to 7 years from date of manufacturing...NOT THE DATE OF INSTALLMENT.
Which is also another reason to look at the date on your tires even if you just bought them new this year. The clock starts ticking from the date of manufacturing.

After this time, the oils in your tire start to dry up, causing the rubber to dry out. A couple signs of age are the tire starts Cracking and also the rubber starts getting hard causing traction issues.

You can determine the age of your tires by finding the 4 digits stamped on the sidewall of every tire, as depicted in the attached photo.
The first 2 digits (in this case "24") means the tire was made on the 24th week of that year.

The following 2 digits (in this case "18") Is the year this tire was made...2018.

So this tire was made the second week of June 2018. Age would NOT be an issue for this tire for the next couple seasons.
