Camrose Police Service warn residents about a text message scam claiming the person receiving the text has and must pay overdue tickets.

These are Scams and police are warning citizens DO NOT:
• click on any links included in the message,
• provide any personal, financial or payment information,
• respond or engage with the message sender.

Delete the message immediately.

It is vital to know that the police and Government of Alberta do not send text messages requesting payments for fines or tickets.

THIS is a scam.

Be aware of:
• unsolicited text messages with reference to overdue (unpaid) fines or tickets
• messages creating a sense of urgency or threats (final notice, court appearance, impending licence suspension or other penalties.)
• links directing you to unfamiliar payment websites.
If in doubt contact a legitimate agency (Alberta Registry) directly, using official contact information.
