Classic Unobtainium Motorcycle Projects

Classic Unobtainium Motorcycle Projects Machining, fabrication, construction, one off motor cycle projects. Cadcam design, CNC machining. If you can buy it I'm not going to make for you.

If you have a concept for a bike or specialized parts that you would like made then let's talk. A lot of generic parts can be purchased on Ebay, even I buy some because I wouldn't turn my machines on for the price they are asking these days, but one off custom parts well that's another story.

It's time to put some girder forks on the 31 Panther. The late-model Triumph forks were on the bike when I bought it, and being a 1931 model, it should have girders. However, I couldn't find any Panther forks, so the Norton 16H forks will have to do. I should have done this years ago, pity the frame is not original.

Almost finished the "big ass rod" for the Norton ES2, just need to finish the bores for the big end and small end. The rod is made from 7175 Aluminum and should be as strong or even stronger than a stock one. Now to finish the flywheels.

I have been making my own cables for over 50 years and have never had a failure until a few weeks ago, when the ni**le on the front brake cable of the Jawa pulled out while Mat was on the warm-up lap, just glad it didn't happen in the race, bike was a bit bent and Mat had a stiff neck, so not too bad. Now I'm paranoid about all my solder joints on my cables; it's time to make a cable bird-cage tool.

After the Norton ES2 shakedown run at the GBFOS in September I thought I would get an early start on a few mods.
Nourish 5-speed gearbox and an NEB clutch.

The ES2 ran really well on its first outing at the Grand Bend Festival of Speed so I thought I would have a look inside the head after re-working the combustion chamber and it looks great even if the piston was just touching the head a tad, thicker base will sort that out but then I noticed some scuffs up the bore.
The piston has picked up in four corners 45 degrees to the pin but the weird thing is when measuring the piston at the bottom of the skirt it now measures 3.412" instead of 3.423", looks like the skirt has collapsed, don't see any heat marks on the piston or the pin.

Well, I knew it would happen, my fiberglass tank on the Seeley Jawa started to leak so I was forced to make a tank. I had been saving pictures of all sorts of tanks over the past year and hadn't come up with a style yet so got out the cardboard and made it up as I went along, ended up being 7 pieces.

Well, it doesn't look like the LSR is going to sell, now I have to finish it and run it at Loring Airforce Base, please somebody buy it.

First real start-up of the LSR, I get a bit nervous around Methanol, you don't know you are on fire until it's too late. just before starting it, I heard a strange sound and couldn't figure out what it was, then noticed it was coming from air supply going to the foot-operated solenoid for the fuel valve. I must admit, the bike sounds crisp and I was getting 5lbs of boost just blipping the throttle so it's looking good. Loring in July for a land speed record if I don't sell it beforehand.
