🚗❄️ Why Does a Jeep Grand Cherokee Need the Entire Dash Removed for an A/C Repair? ❄️🚗
Here’s a behind the scenes look at a major HVAC repair we recently completed at Adair Auto Repair. On this Jeep Grand Cherokee, the entire dashboard had to be removed to access the heater & A/C control box hidden deep inside the dash.
Many Jeep Grand Cherokees are known for a common factory design issue where the sealant used inside the HVAC box softens and deteriorates over time from heat exposure. When this happens, the blend doors and air flaps inside the system can stick or fail to move properly.
This can cause symptoms such as:
✔️ No cold air from the A/C
✔️ Heat stuck on one side
✔️ Poor airflow direction
✔️ Inconsistent cabin temperatures
✔️ Clicking or binding noises from inside the dash
Unfortunately, there’s no simple shortcut repair, proper diagnosis and repair requires extensive disassembly to access the HVAC housing and restore correct operation.
At Adair Auto Repair, we take the time to diagnose these complex issues properly and complete repairs the right way using professional procedures and attention to detail.
If your vehicle’s heating or air conditioning system isn’t performing properly, don’t ignore the early warning signs, catching these problems early can help prevent bigger repairs down the road.
