Picking a roof rack for your Subaru build isn't as simple as grabbing whatever's on sale. Crossbars vs. full platform racks, dynamic vs. static load ratings, what actually holds a rooftop tent safely... we broke it all down in our latest guide.

If you're planning a build this season, this one's worth a read before you buy.

Not all Subaru roof racks are created equal. Here's how to choose the right one for your build, your budget and the adventures you're planning.

It's official, Flat 4 Offroad finally has a home 🏠

If you've been following along on social media or are part of our newsletter, you've probably already seen it. We finally have a place to call our own!

Since 2020, Flat 4 Offroad has operated as a mobile-first business out of a storage locker. It served us well and helped us grow into what we are today, but we're ready for the next step. Having a physical location means we can serve you better, give you a place to stop in, talk about your build, see products in person, and help make Flat 4 Offroad your one-stop shop for Subaru adventure gear and upgrades.

We've still got lots to do. The showroom is a work in progress; we're bringing in more inventory, and we still need a sign out front. But the doors are open, and if you'd like to stop by and see the next chapter of Flat 4 Offroad taking shape, we'd love to have you.

Most importantly, thank you! None of this would be possible without the support of this amazing community over the last six years. The last few years have brought a lot of change, growth, and challenges, and your support through all of it has allowed us to keep moving forward.

I'm excited for what's next, not just for Flat 4 Offroad, but for the Subaru adventure community we're continuing to build across Western Canada and beyond.

Thank you for your support over the years... this shop is as much your milestone as it is ours!

We just dropped a new buying guide on the blog and if you've been thinking about adding a rooftop tent to your build, this one is worth a read.

We cover everything you actually need to know before buying, hard shell vs soft shell, how to size it for your rig, what Subaru weight ratings mean in practice, and what separates a quality tent from a bare-bones one!

We also highlight two of our favourite Go Overland tents, the Equinox and the Expedition Mini, both of which we carry!

Thinking about adding a rooftop tent to your Subaru? This guide covers everything you need to know about tent types, sizing, weight limits, and our top picks from Go Overland Canada, so you can make the right call for your rig.

The road ended… so we kept going🛣️

Nothing beats a day exploring the Ghost Wilderness, especially when the water crossings look like this.

Who else made it out to the TransAlta Trail this winter?

Skid plates are one of those upgrades that every Subaru owner should have on their list, but knowing where to start isn't always straightforward. Our latest blog breaks down everything you need to know, from the different thicknesses (1/8", 3/16", and 1/4") to what parts of your Subaru actually need protection and how bumper guards tie it all together. Whether you're just getting into the trails or building a serious Trailblazer setup, this one's worth a read!

Skid plates are your Subaru's last line of defence on the trail but not all plates are built the same. In this guide, we break down the different thicknesses, what parts of your Subaru need protection, and how bumper guards tie it all together to help you build the right setup for your adventures.
