Can you see it in the first photo? This is a common marine engine failure. Water enters the engine from the exhaust system (last photo), which hydro locks and slightly bends the connecting rod, subsequently causing the connecting rod bearing to spin because the rod can’t equally distribute the load across the bearing.

Its sad to see our old location finally has been torn down 😔. 71 years in business, operating on the corner of 23rd and Fraser street. I couldn’t help but get choked up as I stood there looking at the pile of rubble, all of the debris recognizable to me from spending so much of my life inside those four walls. Thank you 3891 Fraser Street for all of the blood, sweat and tears. Thank you for all the memories and friendships made. Thank you for being the paving stone for the future of Alec’s Machine Shop here in Burnaby! @ Vancouver, British Columbia
