Another busy day here at Scott’s Custom Auto Spa & Ceramic Coatings! 👊

We’re starting the morning with a returning Ford F-150, back for its 4th visit since receiving its original professional paint correction and ceramic coating here at Scott’s.

Today’s visit included its annual ceramic coating inspection and maintenance, along with a complete interior and exterior detail.

Regular maintenance helps keep a professional ceramic coating performing the way it was designed, while allowing us to inspect the condition of the coating and paint each year.

Meanwhile, the 2021 GMC Denali Duramax continues through its transformation.

✔️ Heavy rotary compounding is now complete.
✔️ The newly refinished panel received additional wet sanding where required.
✔️ Stage two paint correction and refinement is now underway.

Every stage is inspected under our Scangrip inspection lighting to ensure we’re correcting the paint—not simply hiding defects.

Tomorrow, this Denali moves into its final stage before receiving our GlossTech Pro-Series Signature 6-Year Ceramic Coating, along with ceramic coating on all exterior glass, mirrors and wheel faces.

One truck returns for annual maintenance… another is about to begin the next six years of protection.

Not inside Scott’s… 😎❄️

One question we hear from time to time is…

“Can you really keep the shop at a consistent temperature all day?”

Well… have a look. 👀⬇️

Today’s outside temperatures climbed from 28.6°C this morning to over 40°C this afternoon, while our ceramic coating and paint correction studio stayed between 21°C and 23.3°C with humidity maintained right around 50% throughout the day.

Consistency matters.

Whether we’re performing heavy rotary paint correction, refining the finish under Scangrip inspection lighting, or applying a professional ceramic coating, maintaining a stable working environment helps us deliver the same level of workmanship from the first panel to the last.

Today’s projects included:
✅ A returning 2021 GMC Denali Duramax receiving a complete paint correction before upgrading from its original 5-year ceramic coating to our GlossTech Pro-Series Signature 6-Year Ceramic Coating.

😎 Happy Monday from the Climate-Controlled Shop! ❄️

Another beautiful summer day here in Brighton!

While it’s 28.6°C and 62% humidity outside, we’re maintaining a comfortable 21°C and 52% humidity inside the studio.

Why?

Because professional paint correction and ceramic coating are all about consistency.

It’s been another busy Monday at Scott’s Custom Auto Spa & Ceramic Coatings, and we’re not finished yet!

✅ A complete interior & exterior detail, including the engine bay, was completed on a 2012 Honda Civic Sport, ready to head home looking its best.

Next up is something we’re really excited about…

This 2021 GMC Denali Duramax has returned just over five years after receiving one of our professional ceramic coatings when it was brand new.

Today the truck received:
✔️ Complete paint decontamination
✔️ Iron remover treatment
✔️ Clay bar treatment
✔️ Engine bay shampoo
✔️ Interior detail

It’s now ready to be carefully masked and begin a complete multi-stage paint correction before being upgraded to our GlossTech Pro-Series Signature 6-Year Ceramic Coating, along with ceramic coating for all exterior glass, mirrors and wheel faces.

Did the original 5-year ceramic coating do its job?

Absolutely.

After more than five years and nearly 80,000 km, this Denali is still showing excellent gloss and impressive water behaviour. In fact, we often see brand-new vehicles arrive with more swirl marks, scratches and paint defects than this truck has today.

OH NO… THE 5-YEAR CERAMIC COATING WARRANTY IS OVER!! 😱

…or is it?

This 2021 GMC Denali 1500 Duramax was ceramic coated here at Scott’s Custom Auto Spa & Ceramic Coatings when it was brand new. If we remember correctly, it was one of the very first 1500 Duramax trucks delivered in Ontario.

Five years and nearly 80,000 km later, the ceramic coating is still performing impressively. As you can see from today’s photos, the water is still beading beautifully—even on the tonneau cover.

So why is it back?

Not because the coating failed.

The owner plans to keep this truck for years to come and, after a recent repaint on one panel, has chosen to have the entire truck professionally paint corrected again and upgraded to our GlossTech Pro-Series Signature 6-Year Ceramic Coating.

We’ll also be reapplying ceramic coating to all exterior glass, the rim faces and completing the full protection package once again.

What makes this even more meaningful to us is the relationship we’ve built over the years.

Another Toyota Tacoma transformed at Scott’s Custom Auto Spa & Ceramic Coatings! 😎✨

This Tacoma arrived with paint defects that required much more than a simple polish. After carefully wet-sanding the affected areas, we completed a professional 3-stage paint correction using a rotary polisher for the initial cutting stage, followed by multiple refinement stages to restore outstanding gloss, depth, and clarity.

Wednesday in the shop! 👊🔨

The Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro has finally completed its third stage of paint correction after the passenger front door, rear door and bedside required 3000-grit wet sanding to safely level the deeper defects.

The before and after photos tell the story.

Even after wet sanding, heavy compounding with a rotary polisher and lambswool pad, there’s still plenty of healthy clear coat remaining. Paint thickness on this panel is still measuring 5.00 mils, with an average of approximately 4.1 mils across the truck.

That deeper scratch? We chased it as far as we were comfortable while always keeping paint preservation the priority. It’s now barely noticeable, and that’s exactly the balance we’re after.

Last night I spent some time watching paint correction reels that came across my feed. One thing that stood out was how often the message is that a dual-action (DA) polisher is the only safe way to correct paint. The reality is that both rotary and DA polishers have their place. Like any professional tool, success comes down to the technician, paint measurements, proper lighting, pad selection and experience—not simply the machine being used.

Here in our shop, we use whatever tool is best suited for the job. Sometimes that’s a DA, and sometimes it’s a rotary with lambswool. The goal is always the same: achieve the highest level of correction while preserving as much original paint as possible.

We also had this 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee back in for its third consecutive annual maintenance detail. Thank you again for your continued trust and support!

Tomorrow the Tacoma moves into its final preparation before receiving its GlossTech Pro-Series Signature 6-Year Ceramic Coating, while another vehicle is already rolling into the shop. 😊

Tuesday… and we’re back at it! 👊

Another busy day underway here at Scott’s Custom Auto Spa & Ceramic Coatings!

We’re starting today with a Complete Detail on a Mustang GT/CS returning for its third visit. Even better, it’s the third vehicle from the same family through the shop in the past month. We truly appreciate the continued trust and support—it means a lot!

The BMW has already received its professional ceramic coating, the Buick SUV is complete.

And today we’re knee-deep in lambswool working through paint correction on the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. 😊

… What a Monday! 👊

It has been a busy one here at Scott’s Custom Auto Spa & Ceramic Coatings!

✅ The 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is masked off and underway for a major paint correction followed by our GlossTech “Full Monty” Ceramic Coating Package.

✅ A complete detailing was completed on a Hyundai Tucson.

✅ We quoted and booked a very rare 2012 Corvette C6 Grand Sport Heritage Package for multi-stage paint correction and GlossTech ceramic coating.

✅ Tomorrow’s Ford Mustang GT California Special is back for its third visit here at Scott’s!

After carefully masking the Tacoma, we performed our inspection using Scangrip inspection lights. Normally, I like to start with the hood or roof, but after seeing the condition of the one door, we decided to tackle one of the worst panels first.

There were still a few stubborn specks of gold paint that even our heavy clay bar couldn’t remove. Unfortunately, a previous attempt to remove the paint with an abrasive scouring pad left the paint heavily marred and scratched.

After checking the paint thickness again, we safely 3000-grit wet sanded the affected area before cutting it with a rotary polisher and wool pad. The before and after photos below speak for themselves! 👇

Every vehicle tells a different story, and every correction requires a different approach. Sometimes that means polishing… and sometimes it means stepping up to more advanced correction techniques to safely restore the finish before applying ceramic protection.

Looking forward to sharing the finished results later this week!

Sunday shop day… getting a head start on another busy week!

First up is this rugged 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro in Army Green.

The owner encountered an unfortunate situation after trying to remove a gold colour paint splatter from the side of the truck using an abrasive pad. While the paint spatters came off, it left behind severe marring and scratches throughout the affected panels.

Now it’s our turn.

This Tacoma will receive a multi-stage paint correction, starting with a rotary first to safely restore the finish before receiving our GlossTech “Full Monty” Ceramic Coating Package, including long-term protection for the freshly corrected paint.

Remember… when it comes to road paint, tree sap, overspray or other stubborn contaminants, using the wrong products or abrasives can often create far more work than the contaminant itself. When in doubt, it’s always worth asking a professional first.

We also brought tomorrow’s detailing appointment into the shop today, so we’re all set for another busy week!
