📢Important update📢

Starting on July 2nd 2026, the government of Alberta is implementing an update on drivers license and identification cards which will include your personal health care number, and a Canadian Citizenship marker.

Albertans applying for or renewing a drivers license or identification card will now need to show proof that they are legally entitled to be in Canada, by showing acceptable documentation such as a Canadian birth certificate or a valid Canadian passort. Once citizenship is confirmed a "CAN" marker will be shown on the top right corner of the card. You will also be required to provide your Alberta Health Care card to get the number added onto the back of the card. Eligible non-citizens will still be able to order drivers license or photo identification cards and a one-time 60 day grace period will be given for Albertans who need extra time to obtain the documents needed.

Children between the ages of 12 and 13 will also be eligible for an identification card free of charge with an integrated personal health care number, and will have the option of including a photo and signature.

We are currently unable to process Alberta drivers licenses, as there is a province wide system outage. We are still albe to provide services for Vehicle Registrations/renewals, Vital Satistics, Corporate Registries, and Land Titles.
