Innovative and economical lightweight products ensure that people are optimally protected in the event of an accident. As a supplier to the automotive industry, KIRCHHOFF Automotive develops and produces complex metal and hybrid structures for body-in-white and chassis that are lightweight, economical and crash-proof. Because the vehicles of the future - from electric to autonomous - also need bodies that ensure the greatest possible safety for all those involved in an accident in the event of an emergency. As a global player, we offer our customers in Europe, Asia and North America comprehensive know-how in the areas of economical lightweight construction and crash performance. With the advanced technology of partial press hardening, KIRCHHOFF Automotive is able to produce steel products with different strength ranges and thus weight- and crash-optimized body components. Many car manufacturers today have complex structural parts for the body-in-white made in hybrid design - Combinations of steel-aluminum or metal-plastic - developed by us and manufactured worldwide. A global production network with the core technologies of forming, joining, lightweight construction and surface treatment ensures uniform manufacturing and production standards. Products such as crash management systems, front-end frames and cross-members are assembled into a wide variety of components in JIT plants in close proximity to customers. The family-owned company, which has existed since 1785, is part of today's KIRCHHOFF Group, which is made up of the Automotive, Ecotec, Mobility and WITTE Tools divisions. With more than 8,000 employees and 27 production plants in 11 countries, KIRCHHOFF Automotive represents the largest division in the group.

🏭💡 Sometimes, the course of a company's history is shaped by unexpected opportunities.

In 1879, a young merchant named Friedrich Kirchhoff temporarily joined the needle factory Stephan Witte & Co. to fill the gap left by an absent employee. What started as a short-term assignment quickly became something much bigger.

Having already built a reputation as a talented and reliable businessman, Friedrich Kirchhoff impressed the company's leadership from the very beginning. Just weeks after arriving, he was offered a permanent position. His career progression was remarkable:

📅 Joined the company on September 15, 1879
📈 Granted power of attorney in 1891
🤝 Became a partner in 1894 at the age of 35

Within just 15 years, Friedrich Kirchhoff's journey took him from a "borrowed" clerk to a partner of the company.

His partnership in 1894 marked the beginning of the Kirchhoff family's entrepreneurial legacy within the business. It laid the groundwork for the development of the company and, ultimately, for the KIRCHHOFF Group as we know it today.

More than 130 years later, his entrepreneurial spirit, willingness to seize opportunities and commitment to long-term growth continue to reflect values that shape KIRCHHOFF Automotive today.

🔧🤖 Crashy on Tour: Behind the Sparks in

Our mascot Crashy is still traveling across the KIRCHHOFF Automotive world, meeting colleagues and discovering what drives our teams every day. This time, he joined Mateusz in Gliwice, Poland, for a closer look at the fast-paced world of production.

As a Production Engineer, Welding Engineer, and Welding Inspector, Mateusz showed Crashy what it takes to keep processes running, solve challenges on the shop floor, and train the next generation of welders.

But the adventure didn't stop at the plant. Mateusz also took Crashy along on a cycling tour, introduced him to his passion for endurance sports, and even brought him to the gym.

A big thank you to Mateusz for sharing the energy of production in Gliwice and giving Crashy another unforgettable experience. Stay tuned, because Crashy's next adventure is already just around the corner!

🆕🔎 Update from Nick!

Our exchange journey with Nick, Program Manager from Troy, Michigan, continues! As he moves into the second half of his year in Germany, he is diving even deeper into international projects, expanding his network, and gaining hands-on experience across multiple locations.

While supporting key customer programs, Nick has been working closely with teams in Germany and Poland, taking on new responsibilities and seeing firsthand how global collaboration drives success at KIRCHHOFF Automotive.

Among his recent highlights are:
🚗 Supporting Cross Car Beam programs with international teams
🤝 Strengthening collaboration across Germany and Poland
🌍 Building valuable experience in global project management

But the experience goes far beyond day-to-day business. From learning different ways of working to understanding customer expectations across regions, every project brings new insights.

And outside the office, Nick continues to make the most of his time abroad by exploring Germany, experiencing local traditions, and discovering new places across Europe.

🏭💡 Sometimes, a setback can become the starting point for a lasting success story.

In 1894, Friedrich Kirchhoff, the first member of the Kirchhoff family to become involved in what is now our company, established the “First Iserlohn Pressing and Stamping Works” to supply the railway industry.

When the expected contract never materialized, he demonstrated the entrepreneurial mindset that still defines our company today by turning toward a new and promising market: the emerging automotive industry.

What began as a challenge ultimately became a defining moment for our company's development and reflects values that continue to guide us today:

🦘🏀 As a long-standing partner and main sponsor of the Iserlohn Kangaroos, we recently welcomed the club to our Iserlohn plant for the annual Kangaroos Evening.

The event highlighted what makes the Kangaroos more than just a basketball team: unity, passion, and the commitment of everyone involved, from players and coaches to volunteers, fans, and partners.

The early 1990s marked a major technological milestone for KIRCHHOFF Automotive.

With the commissioning of our first e-coating (KTL) plant in Attendorn, we introduced a technology that would significantly improve corrosion protection, efficiency, and quality standards for automotive components.

This investment was far more than a new production process. It became the foundation for future growth and helped shape our development into a globally operating automotive supplier.
