🚨 CUSTOMER AWARENESS POST 🚨

Trying to save a couple of bucks can sometimes end up costing thousands.

This vehicle came into our shop after an engine vacuum pump had been improperly installed during a previous repair.

What started as a straightforward repair part turned into a catastrophic engine failure. Because the vacuum pump wasn't installed correctly, it broke apart, sending metal fragments directly into the engine. Once metal debris enters the engine, it can contaminate internal components, causing extensive damage that often requires a complete engine replacement.

We understand everyone wants to save money, and there's nothing wrong with looking for a good deal. But when critical engine components aren't installed according to manufacturer specifications, the consequences can be far more expensive than the original repair.

At Northwest Automotive, we believe in doing the job right the first time. Proper procedures, quality workmanship, and attention to detail aren't just buzzwords - they're what help prevent situations like this.

Sometimes the cheapest repair ends up being the most expensive one.

Just shy of one year ago, on July 1st, I took over Northwest Automotive. Yesterday marked another huge milestone in this journey - I officially incorporated the business.

When I first took this leap, I had no idea where it would lead. There have been challenges, long days, lessons learned, and plenty of moments that pushed me outside my comfort zone. But through it all, there hasn’t been a single day where I haven’t been grateful.

To every customer who has trusted us with your vehicles, recommended us to your family and friends, shared our posts, left a review, stopped in for a chat, or simply cheered us on - thank you. The support this community has shown me has been overwhelming, and I will never take it for granted.

I also want to thank everyone who has congratulated me along the way. Your kind words, encouragement, and belief in me have meant more than you’ll ever know.

One thing I’ve learned over the past year is that this industry isn’t about competition. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some incredible local automotive shops, helping each other when needed and trading off jobs that one shop may be better equipped to handle than another. That’s what community is all about. We all experience busy seasons, slow seasons, and times when we need a helping hand.

Arnprior may not be such a little town anymore, but it still has that small-town heart, and I’m incredibly proud to be part of it.

At Northwest Automotive, everyone is welcome. Whether you’ve been with us since day one or you’re thinking about visiting us for the first time, we look forward to continuing to earn your trust.

With the holiday Monday, it was a shorter week at Northwest Automotive - but we packed a LOT into it. 🔧🚗

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at what the shop has been working on this week:

We started the week with some fleet work for Black & McDonald on a 2022 Ford F-250 Super Duty. That truck received:
• Tire balance
• Front brakes (pads, rotors & caliper)
• Rear pads & rotors
• Oil change
• Alignment over at Country Town Auto Centre on Russett Drive in Arnprior

We also had:
• Wheel studs and lug nut replacement on a 2011 Subaru Outback after some stripped wheel nuts
• Tire change, mount & balance on a Honda CR-V
• Safety inspection on a 2017 Honda Civic
• Hose fl**ge replacement on a 2011 BMW X3
• ABS module, differential control module, rear pads & rotors on a 2015 Buick Encore

One of the bigger jobs this week was a 2009 Pontiac Vibe that came in needing quite a bit of work:
• Exhaust manifold & catalytic converter
• O2 sensor
• Both quick struts
• Wheel bearing
• Washer pump
• Oil change
• Ignition coils due to a misfire
Other vehicles through the shop this week included:
• Safety inspection on a 2004 Nissan Xterra
• Tire change & inspection on a 2011 Chrysler 300
• Safety inspection on a 2018 Dodge Durango
• Safety inspection on a 2014 Silverado 1500
• Front ball joint & oil change on a 2010 Dodge Journey
• Motorcycle safety on a Kawasaki
• Oil change & fluid top-up on a 2020 Jeep Compass
• Safety inspection on a 2013 Mazda 3 that needed rear pads & rotors before certification
• Another Black & McDonald fleet truck - a 2024 Ford F-150 for an oil change

Currently in the shop:
• ABS pump replacement on a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado
• Transmission replacement on a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe
• replacement for a broken gas pedal cable on a 2004 Ram 2500

Still coming in before the weekend:
• Rear wheel bearing on a 2016 Volkswagen Passat
• Oil change & tire change on a 2018 Ford Focus
• Oil change, serpentine belt & ABS light diagnosis on a 2012 Toyota Yaris
• Black & McDonald 2020 Ford F-550 for a check engine light diagnosis, oil change, fuel filter replacement & tarp install on the dump box
• Oil & tire change on a 2017 Hyundai Elantra
And somewhere in between all of that - flat tire repairs, nail removals, and pop-in appointments whenever we can squeeze them in.
