Update on the Proposed Changes to the Professional Foresters Act & Regulation

Follow this link for more information: https://isaontario.com/urgent-notice-the-future-of-arboriculture-in-ontario/

Earlier this month, the ISA Ontario Chapter was notified in writing by the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry (NDMNRF) of proposed legislative changes to the Professional Foresters Act, 2000 under the ‘Supporting People and Businesses Act, 2021’, which is currently before the legislature.

The intent of the proposed amendments is to better define the scope of practice of professional forestry and reduce overlap with other professions, like arborists.

It is with sincere thanks to the ISAO/OPFA Task Force for their efforts in reaching such a positive outcome, ISAO staff who continue to work tirelessly toward a resolution, and to all the members who reached out to their local MPPs to advocate on behalf of the arboricultural profession.
